Anyone with the slightest bit of interest in astronomy will know that on Tuesday, December 2010, there will be a total lunar eclipse. I found this out and was quite excited to find out that I could indeed view it for myself!.......That is untill I realised that it was going to be snowing.....which means clouds and no clear view of the sky. Happieness gone.

So, who among us will get to witness this event that is said to be one of the most beautifull natural wonders of our solar system?

A little information on the eclipse is warranted I think.

Edit: That would be Monday night into Tuesday morning for those on the East coast of North America. Different for the rest of the world.

Sadly, it looks as though my weather is going to suck that day.

A rare event, and one I would otherwise be able to see, but the weather is going to do me in :(

Hopefully the snow should break and hour or so before the scheduled time. I missed the last one so I'm crossing my fingers this time.

Thanks to stupid planetary laws this stupid ball of cheese up in the sky is going to be unviewable that day.
Sadly, it's going to happen shortly before the moonset (if this isn't a legit word I now declare it one) so no watching for me. Damnit.

Oh hell yes I am seeing this, I haven't missed a lunar eclipse of any sort in many years (okay, there was ONE...ONE!) I'm a bit of the astronomy nerd, but I don't care, it's all awesome to me. I think this time around though, I will actually try taking some good photos.

Assuming it isn't snowed out, I will actually be doing a program on it at my local observatory at midnight.

Sadly, the forecast does not look good.

Theres about 4 more hours until it strikes here in Chicago, but alas, it's fucking snowing. So I won't be able to see it. Yet another reason to dislike snow, but I thought our relationship was in better shape than that...

40 more minutes. It's right outside my window. Moon's pretty bright right now.

Sigh. Yeah, it's 10 minutes until midnight, the program was obviously canceled.

Sucks.

Well, if Superman would ever return my calls to take me up above the clouds...

This is the first solstice eclipse in 456 years [http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap101220.html] too. Alas that the weather never cooperates.

The weather was fine where I'm at, it's just cold outside so I can't be arsed to go outside...

Damn it, I missed it. Meh.

I know of a group that gathered to go see it, but I don't care enough to bother with it.

Already saw it, took pictures, and it was awesome. Seriously, the moon turned f@#king blood red.
