Now, I'll be honest, I have probably at least once partaken in a discussion about how there really aren't any original games coming out - I mean, for Christ's sake, you could literally put the gameplay footage of most of the games at E3 into a montage without the titles of each game and nobody would be able to tell which was which - And yet, when I think about it, I'm simply looking at the surface.

What I'm saying is, 2011 is showing itself to have more unique, and at times, simply weird games than any other year this generation, or, perhaps any year LAST generation as well. So far we've seen Catherine, Bastion, From Dust, and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, and we still have that one game Journey, a game which I'm STILL uncertain of what exactly in the hell is going on.

Maybe it's just me, but 2011 actually is pretty interesting so far.

I think it's a good year for gaming, I just don't think it's particularly unique.

All the most anticipated games are pretty much sequels. Sure, those are good titles but really, besides Journey, I'm not seeing one that really astounds me.

I like this. We're actually getting some cool stuff for once instead of the same dry genres. I hope this keeps on coming.

Well you've only mentioned indie/foreign titles, and I think if you look back through the years you will find that those are always unique. As far as mainstream titles go, I can't think of anything that jumps out as "unique"

There are boatloads of games coming out this next quarter that look quite unique. 2011 is shaping up to be one of the best years for gaming in recent memory.
