meh who cares if were all screwed, with nuclear weapons, global warming and kapitalism were doomed anyway. So I don't care if we all die in Armagedon 2012 or Nuclear Holocaust 2077.
Of course I don't want to die, but as I belive in rebirth I don't mind that much, unless there is nothing to be born into, then we all go to Nirvana, wich I got to say, sounds extremly boring!
hmm, judging from you avatar I'd say you're perfectly prepared for a nuclear holo-whatchamukalit.
also
if nirvana sounds boring then you should start to beleive in the flying spaghetti monster. our after life has a beer volcano and a stripper factory.
Flying Spaghetti monster is the LORD.

Anyway, this sounds like other " apocalypse" movies:

A family is happy, but then the disaster happens! And, guess what, time to steal a car and drive to... nowhere. Because, guess what again, EVERYBODY IS GOING TO DIE NO MATTER WHERE YOU RUN TO!

So, i don't give a damn about these movies.

I think something will happen on that day, but not some bullshit Armageddon Theory. Maybe we will give birth to a more prominent AI that will actually work and we could start building machines to do our bidding. Or maybe new scientific discoveries! Oh the possibilities!

I recently posted on a thread about "the last thing to make you angry".
when I realized that I need to share my anger with everyone else in the hopes that I will keep people from seeing this movie (even though it wont).
So here is what I posted,

Well I went to see a wonderful film yesterday ("this is it") and when I went into the theater I was immediately assaulted by the newest disaster film under the guise of an actual movie, 2012.
Listen people,
People say that the Mayans predicted the end of the world occurring on this date, but those people are completely

The Mayan calender doesn't predict doom, it just ends, probably because the person writing got sick of his job.
In fact here is a quote from Wikipedia if you all think I'm talking out of my pasty white ass.

"The idea of a global event occurring in 2012 based on any interpretation of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar is rejected as pseudoscience by the scientific community, and as misrepresentative of Maya history by Mayanist scholars."

the world will not end on 2012, I promise.

Now about the movie.
So far I am very very unimpressed with what I have seen, the only plot I got out of it is "Stuff gets blown up, run away."
Sure the CG is impressive, but CG does not a good movie make, and no amount of John Cusack can save it.
Some people are ok with watching priceless monuments and world wonders getting destroyed but I would like a little more bang for my buck. (no pun intended)
You may say "but how can a movie about shit getting annihilated possibly be boring?"
I would say, just watch "The day after tomorrow."
but if you want to know about this particular film then I have two other movies you should look up made by the same people.
1. Godzilla (1998 remake)
2. 10,000 B.C.
I shouldn't have to say anything else, but I will say that these jokers ruined Godzilla for me for about 8 years.
there is not any apology that can make up for that.

Does anyone else feel the way I do about this movie,
or am i just pissing in the wind?
The guy also made Independance Day and The Day After Tomorrow. So, he's OK in my book

Same here, to both of these. They were, by no means, AMAZING movies, but they were fun for what they were: stupid action carnival rides.

2012, on the other hand, well... I've seen a fairly lengthy clip from it, and it looks like it won't supply entertainment in the same way its predecessors did. But it may be a hilariously bad movie, and I love those, so a friend and I are already planning on seeing it (though her reasons are different from mine, she thinks it might be a good movie. A good critic, she is not.)

I have no problem with disaster movies. They are not Oscar material, but they are still a lot of fun if you can give common sense a rest (which is usually called "suspension of disbelief")...

Besides, those movies can only be experienced on a theater.

shouldn't this be in user reviews?

But I see where you're coming from, I didn't exactly have high hopes for this film in the first place.

What I don't get is why the world is supposed to end on a date that we as humans made up.

The universe will end when it fucking feels like it on it's own calendar not when we say it will.

The Mayan calendar just ends on that date and besides there's absolutely bugger all evidence proving this and more evidence denying it.#

In addition with all the different time zones means that some places will be in the so called "doomsday" before other parts, and factor in daylight saving time. It all adds up to a mathematical mindfuck.

Doomsday theories suck.

I find it funny that even the Mayans are sick and tired of 2012 stuff. Even they say there's no ending on 2012, just end end of ONE of their CALENDAR CYCLES. It's something like an anniversary of the world's creation to them.
I went ahead and found the article I was thinking of.

Ya, I don't see why people think the world will end in 2012. BTW, I actually liked Godzilla and 10000 BC (although I was 7/8 when I watched the former and the latter went downhill in the second half).

... So... because a fan of the movie created a video that shows the American Godzilla getting pwned, we all have to bow down to the "superiority" of a guy in a suit?

Sorry, but as hilarious as that video was (seriously, my comment here aside, I really enjoyed it) but some people just don't like to watch guys in rubber suits walking around punching each other. Plus, some people are a big fan of Japanese culture, which (for brutally obvious reasons) is spread throughout the Japanese Godzilla movies.

Not that I don't like Japan. I just grew out of an obsession with anime and Japanese culture about two years ago. And, looking back on it, I have no clue where the obsession came from in the first place.

Besides, I enjoy disaster movies, and that's what the American Godzilla movie was. It was just disguised not-so-cleverly as a monster movie.

Anyone who believes these "Doomsday theories" is a moron. You're telling me that you are basing your theory off of a 500 year-old calender or the flip of some coins? Why don't you believe in something more plausible, like unicorns or dragons?
