I interpret it to mean that the world will no longer be centered (ha) in the western hemisphere, and instead the US and EU are completely supplanted by some country in the Far East (Japan, China, Mongolia, etc.).

Alternately, the UN gets off its ass and starts doing shit.

That's my interpretation at least. Alternately, nothing happens and I'm still stuck at Wal-Mart making last-minute gift purchases that I should have had done weeks prior. Like Every year.


Having said that, I'm saving my free movie tickets for something worthwhile. Like the new interpretation of A Christmas Carol

What I don't get is why the world is supposed to end on a date that we as humans made up.

The universe will end when it fucking feels like it on it's own calendar not when we say it will.

The Mayan calendar just ends on that date and besides there's absolutely bugger all evidence proving this and more evidence denying it.#

In addition with all the different time zones means that some places will be in the so called "doomsday" before other parts, and factor in daylight saving time. It all adds up to a mathematical mindfuck.

This rumor of doom is from a wildfire of ignorant people misinterpreting the end of a calender from a civilization that died out thousands of years ago.
