Only if religion rules and predicts your life. Remember 6-6-06? The number of the Beast? Hell and fire are going to be released(lol, obscure lyrical joke)? Nothing happened. I remember the day; I was at school and some really smart dude said it was 6-6-76 by Japan's calender, and rhetorically asked if only America would die.

While we are on the subject of predicting the end of the world I'll digress into general prediction. I read that Nostradamus predicted that a cult, thought to be dead, will return in the 2008 Olympics and enslave the world. That was the gist of things, I can't remember the exact wording. Could Nostradamus have confused the Soviet union with a cult?..

Just don't go mad on the Chrimbo pressies that year.
There have been end of the world prophecies from doomsayers since man put fear into others.
Now noone buys the Nostrodamus bollocks anymore, despite the fact he was so right so many times if you interpret it a certain way, now we're looking to Mayan, Incan Whatevan folklore and myth to make sure we're keeping some poor guillible sap under the covers.
If it all ends, what can we really do about it?
Enjoy yourselves for tomorrw we will wake in Elysium...

2012? That prediction by Aztecs, which is beleived by Christians, and was first brought up in what, America?
There's everything wrong when it comes to that so called "prediction". Why would Christians beleive what Aztecs predicted? And how would they get the year 2012? Anyone remember Y2K? Wasn't that also only beleived by America? (No? yes?)
Point is, America loves negativity and the idea of the apocolypse, it's tools for making people convert to Christianity.
in case no one answered...
December 21, 2012 is when the Mayan calendar ends
ok now for some brain use, i know it hurts but bear with me...
many people (myself NOT included) believe that the world will because the Mayans stopped adding days to their calendar...
maybe they thought they wouldn't need to carve anymore days into a giant rock for a few thousand years
maybe they ran out of room on their temple to the almighty sun god (praise him for all eternity or he won't rise in the sky tomorrow.)
but i think the actual answer is (which most of you seemed to have forgotten) that they DIED OUT! an acient, primitive civilization that believed in the sun and the moon and the wind that was killed off thousands of years ago

I mean come on people.

if it were up to the end of the world mongers the world would end every friday. PLEASE people dont buy this garbage. Theres been 21 6th of the 6th of the 6th days to date since the birth of crist, infact there was one when he was 6. NONE of them herelded the end of the world. So some ancient people said a date for the world to end, do you have any idea how many people have done that already.... and failed. For all we know it might be a sick joke
"hey steve wanna scare the future people and say the world will end in 2012"
"good idea bob il carve it into this wall here"
I personally do believe the end of the world will be brought about by us. if god/the devil did end the world they would make us be our own demise. I have a feeling they would appreciate the irony. Thats my opinion though. Belive what you will.

First of all it's not even really 2012. The calender is all based of the arbitrary number some random scholars threw out when the king asked how long ago Jesus was born and suchlike. I think it was really sixty years off of the real date now that they calculated it or something.

People have been predicting the apocolypse for a long time. Remember all that nonsense back in 2006 about it being 6/6/06. And everyone thought the bible said that was when the apocalypse was? Yeah, the bible actually referred to the 6/6/6. The year 6, just 6. No 2000 extra years. or even 106, or 206, or 1006. Or any number of other years that end in six with somme zeroes.

So seriously. Shut the fuck up. The numbers we mark the years by have no actual signifigance. Because we made them up. Just like the aztecs made theirs up. And since that was the Aztec calender wouldn't the years not match up with our calender?

You can't predict the apocalypse by the date. You're just being an idiot. Kindly go kill yourself now and stop polluting the gene pool with your stupid.

it is actually proven that in (rough estemate) 13 trillion years blackholes will (by proccess of random occurence) have sucked up every micron of matter and light in the universe. all suns will have burnt up and been swallowed. 3 trillion years for life but 13 trillion years for every single speck of matter.

it creeps me out thinking about it

With so many possible ends of the world, it's not even worth it to get hyped up about it any more. There's global warming, the Yellowstone supervolcano, that Texas-sized comet (thankfully NASA has plan "Put Something Really Big Next to It" already in progress).

Firstly, 2012 is a stupid date for the world to end. If the world wanted to be cool in its ending, it would do it in 2000.

And the end of the world is very vague. Do you mean the end of Earth, the end of humanity, the end of life on Earth, or just general large amounts of death?

Oh, and by the way, I'm Christian. You better run before I use my mind control powers to convert you. Watch out.

I doubt it. But then again I don't really care.
If we all die in 2012 then at least I'll die (relatively) young. and if not, then I can laugh extra hard at all the dumbasses that thought it would.
Besides, I live in a city that is long overdue for a really big earthquake. a long dormant caldera volcano nearby has the potential to suddenly erupt and kill everyone and my country has one of the highest rates of suicide in the world (not sure how that would kill me, maybe if a pilot commited suicide whilst flying me somewhere... maybe)
So I could well already be dead by 2012 anyway.

First of all, the Earth won't end. Period. Second, if it is going to end, it's going to be the United States fucking up so bad that other continents take turns shoving its head up its ass while we wait for imminent doom. Anyway, the US is going to start 99% of all doomsdays by doing something incredibly stupid if life is destined to end

Oh yeah, and all of you beliving that the world will end, prepare to be ridiculed when it doesn't happen. And if it does, have fun gloating for a millisecond while the entire human race gets turned into meaty slag.
