Don't even bring that pessimistic shit in here when there are 4 MOTHERFUCKING Persona games coming out this year!
You're not terribly far off the mark. The game is, essentially, Call of Duty with parkour and giant mechs.RiseUp said:You know, I'm not exactly thrilled for Titanfall. It doesn't look bad (few things involving mechs ever are), but it seems to me like it doesn't deserve its hype. Granted, I haven't tried the beta, but from what I've seen it looks to be another "dumb fun" shooter along the lines of Call of Duty. I do see the appeal of games like that, but for me to play a multiplayer game for months or even years after its release, it has to have some sort of depth or meta-game.

Can you explain to me how this year seems bleak? Cause from what I can see this year looks like it's going to be a good one. Also if your computer couldn't handle Witcher 3 or if Dark Souls 2 doesn't get ported properly you could always get them on PS4/Xbox one/PS3/Xbox 360? Unless you just don't like consals?kasperbbs said:This year really seems bleak, even more so for PC gamers, or at least myself. I was considering replacing my old piece of junk, but then i realised that there is no reason to, maybe if Witcher 3 doesn't work properly and Dragon age turns out decent this time. Then theres dark souls 2 if it's ported properly this time. After checking the releases it doesn't seem all that bad, there are a lot of potentially good games, but then again that site had half-life 3 listed for 2014 for some reason.
It seems to me that it's definitely worth trying out, if only for the novelty of having jetpack parkour in an FPS (come to think of it, why don't more games have jetpacks?), but I don't think that any sort of run-and-gun, loadout-based multiplayer shooter deserves the kind of hype that Titanfall has been getting.Agayek said:You're not terribly far off the mark. Now, those additions are fairly massive and change up the gameplay significantly, enough so that I love the game despite being lukeward at best toward the various CoD titles, but it's beating heart is still CoD mechanics. I can't speak much to the metagame, as I've never been able to grasp the details of it, but the weapon selection and gear loadouts seem like they're ripped straight out of MW3. If you're not a fan of the Modern Warfare games, Titanfall probably won't appeal to you.
That said, I'd definitely recommend trying it anyway. As I mentioned, I'm not a big fan of CoD, or multiplayer shooters in general, but the Titanfall demo/"beta" weekend pretty much sold me on it. I can't honestly endorse paying for it if you don't like CoD, but if there's ever a demo or one of your friends buys it or whatever, I'd heartily recommend trying it out.
But that's the thing though, with the beta it drew in 2 million people and that's a lot of people for a beta already, it is something new just a bit other than trying to be a plain based shooter like cod which is why it has all that's in the game currently.RiseUp said:but I don't think that any sort of run-and-gun, loadout-based multiplayer shooter deserves the kind of hype that Titanfall has been getting.
I did mention that it seems like a crappy year for ME. There simply aren't that many interesting titles coming out and i don't plan on buying a console for various reasons.weirdo8977 said:Can you explain to me how this year seems bleak? The problem is you're defining how good the year is based on the number of bad games.. Why bother? Define them by the number of good games. And you have no idea how many of those will come out this year, especially because at this point really only Thief has actually come out.Professor James said:Okay guys I get it, I shouldn't let a couple of bad games dictate the outcome of this year. I just also have this bad feeling for some unknown reason that we're gonna get a aliens:colonial marines or two this year I don't know why. Maybe I should be more optimistic.
Well see, right there's your problem. You're looking at this rationally and objectively.TheKasp said:So, a handfull of crappy games that you would've never discovered if it wasn't for the internet publicity they got through TB and similiar = second worst year for gaming? Really? Do you really think that no other year ever had such bad games released? Hate to blow your mind but: Just because it is easier to expose a bad game today doesn't mean bad games just started releasing. Each month shitty games release. Since ever.
What are you talking about? Chess revolutionized gaming. And don't even get me started on Ball in a Cup and Rubber Ball (and its famous sequel Rubber Ball 2, which was later renamed Basketball in the English version). Man, Mexico was a kick ass game developer back in the day, if you can forget all that controversy surrounding Human Sacrifice and that hostile takeover by Spain...Silvanus said:Not even nearly the worst year for gaming.
Think of all those years before the 20th century. 1066 will have been a very poor year for gaming.
Very wrong in fact. The First Crusade was declared in 1095, and in 1066 Chess had been played throughout Europe for about a century. Also the Spanish didn't conquer what is now Mexico until the 16th century.2xDouble said:I may be getting those years wrong, but I've already put way too much effort into this joke, I'm not about to toss actual research into it.
