So, another new year rolls around.

I was looking at a list of upcoming games for 2014 on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_in_video_gaming) and I have to say, somehow nothing is really exciting me. Now last year at about this time we had games like Tomb Raider, Dead Space 3, DmC, Alien's Colonial Marines, Bioshock Infinite, Metal Gear Rising all coming out within the space of a few months. Some of these turned out great, others not so much, but there were a large number of titles I was interested in seeing how they turned out, for good or for ill.

This year I'm looking at the list and I'm not really excited about anything too much. There's Dragon Age 3, later in the year and hopefully it'll get the series back on track. Apart from that there are games like Final Fantasy XIII-3 or Castlevania 2 where I feel like they will be just like the prequels.

Anyway, my questions is what are you guys looking forward to in the upcoming year? I'm hoping for some infectious enthusiasm.

Dark Souls 2 is the only one that I'm really interested in at the moment. I'm also kind of hoping that the next generation brings new franchises that nobody expects, that end up being awesome.

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor (not sure if this is even gonna come out 2014 tho)
Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls
FF XIII-3
...
Well that's it for now.

- Infamous Second Son
- Destiny
- Castlevania 2 (really liked the first one)
- Witcher 3

Also waiting to hear more about when Uncharted 4, Order 1886, and the Dstrict, not sure any of those will release in 2014.

I'm also looking forward to a bunch of the indies.

Dont Starve
Hotline Miami 2
Rogue Leagacy

I don't play much on the PC so I haven't played any of those yet.

This is also the start to the new generation, so I expect it will be a little slow for the next few months.

My most anticipated game of 2014? Easy:

[HEADING=1]Transistor[/HEADING]

I absolutely loved Bastion and from everything I've seen and read, Transistor is promising to be even better. If nothing else the soundtrack alone promises to be worthwhile, Bastion being the only game whose soundtrack I regularly listen to and this games being made by the exact same people. Meanwhile the art looks gorgeous and the gameplay entertaining.

Can't wait!

The Sims 4 and Banished [http://www.shiningrocksoftware.com/]. Been waiting for Banished for a long time now, should be out in a few weeks. Fingers crossed.

Lately I've been more interested in indie games and such, so I don't usually find out about them early on. If I do, it's way too early on and I just ignore it so I don't get tired of not hearing anything.

If there were more Harvest Moon, Village Builders, that kind of thing coming out this year, I'd be happier. I've shifted into a casual, light and happy phase in the last while and not much has scratched that itch.

... Well, also, looking forward to NPCs in Project Zomboid [http://projectzomboid.com/] as well. No ETA on that. Bought this game 2-3 years ago and only picked it up again a month or so ago when it finally got its early release on Steam. Looking forward to more with that, too.

Dark Souls 2 and Transistor are basically the only games I'm interested in (if Transistor even releases).

Well besides the new Smash Bros and the next Mario Kart, couldn't care about the new Donkey Kong in the slightest, I'm looking forward to the Kingdom Hearts HD II.5 HD ReMix that's slated to come out next year. That would render most of my other imports from Square Enix, and then I wanna get the Final Fantasy X HD Collection thus rendering all but 1 of my imports from Square Enix useless. :p

Anyway, on the indie side:

Oh, um sorry, I'm just excited for another collectathon since Nintendo seems to have forgotten about those. Anyway, Shovel Knight also comes out next year which is great as well.

That's all I can think of, not as many games as I wanted like this year, but I still enjoyed the games released this year. Who knows, I might end up getting into Dark Souls since I'm not the biggest fan of the series really.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Risen 3: Blazing Oceans and Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord are the main ones I'm anticipating, with a modest interest in Wasteland 2 as well ('lotta sequels!). Witcher 3 and Bannerlord I'm certain are going to be fantastic games, no doubt from me there. Risen 3 I'm a little more unsure about. Risen 2 was mediocre at best, so I have cause for concern. However, I know Piranha Bytes are a great company, and they can make another solid game - I have faith in them still. So I'm excited to see what they do. If it fails my expectations though.. well, we'll see.

As for Wasteland 2, well, I recently played through the first two Fallout games and enjoyed them, so another game in that old school ilk and by the same developers could be interesting.

Contrasting everyone else in this thread so far, February and March of next year would be hell for my wallet if I wanted to get everything I've got an interest in.

Bravely Default
Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze (I'd need a Wii U for this as well)
Tales of Symphonia: Chronicles
Divinity: Original Sin
Dark Souls II
Potentially the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD releases
Metal Gear Solid V (ideally on a PS4, which I would need to buy as well)
Infamous: Second Son (see above)
BlazBlue: Chronophantasma
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls

That's just those two months. Potentially thoughout the rest of the year there's also -
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5
Kirby: Triple Deluxe
Persona 5
Pillars of Eternity
Star Citizen (depends on how it turns out; If there's no offline mode then count me out)
Tales of Xillia 2
The Witcher 3
Transistor
The Wolf Among Us
Watch Dogs
X

And that's just from taking a quick glance down the Wikipedia page. So, yeah, too many games and not enough time or money for me to play all of them. Especially when I've still got an ever-growing backlog of games over the past few years.

If X (or whatever it comes to be named) manages to release in 2014, then that is certainly the game I'm looking forward to the most. Titanfall is a close second with Dark Souls 2 and The Witcher 3 following close behind. I'm also really looking forward to both Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze and Dragon Age: Inquisition, but I am a little apprehensive about both. Overall, though, it looks like 2014 should definitely deliver plenty of hours of enjoyment from games.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5
Just so you know, Kingdom Hearts II.5, yes they are actually going with II.5, is slated for a next year release on the PS3 exclusively. It might be in March again like 1.5 was in Japan, but I'll keep track of it since I imported 1.5 when it came out in Japan as well. Although as for a US release I don't know because in March here Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD come out, but it came out in Japan on the 26th, since Christmas is not a national holiday in Japan.

The only three I can think of are Super Smash Bro Brawl and Star Citizen (chances are my pc cna't run it) Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Well there's Hawken but I don't think that is out in 2014 yet.

Dragon Age 3. I've been gagging for more Dragon Age all year. Origins is probably my favourite game ever and I actually really enjoyed 2 (despite the obvious flaws), so basically... gimme gimme gimme!

Well, there weren't that many exciting new releases this year, so the offerings of 2014 look pretty good in that respect. I have set my sights on:
- Broken Age
- Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Watch Dogs
- Quantum Break
- The Wolf Among Us

In addition to those releases, I'm pretty excited to hear more news about Mass Effect 4 and Fallout 4 (rumored). Plus, I'm pretty sure there'll be some mouthwatering announcements at the 2014 E3. So yeah, I'm pretty optimistic about the upcoming year.

A lot more than this past year, not that there wasn't games that I enjoyed, but there are more in 2014 that I'm excited for.

Dark Souls II
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls
Lightning Returns
Watch Dogs
inFamous: Second Son
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Shovel Knights
Bravely Default
Transistor
The Last Guardian (Shut up, it's going to happen goddammit!)[footnote]I'm not in denial, nor am I crazy. If it doesn't come out some time this year I'm going to cry. :'([/footnote]

I know I will be doing a lot of apologizing to my bank account, but I think it will suck it up and deal with all the awesomeness that's coming. :D

A Hat in Time (assuming it met the Wii U stretch goal)
Bravely Default
Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze
Final Fantasy X/X2 HD
inFamous: Second Son
Kirby 3D
Shovel Knights
Smash For (I swear, that's what they're going for with the name)
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles
Thief
Watch Dogs

I'm hoping for some pleasant surprises too...I don't expect Hyrule Warrior or, Zelda U to release but I can't wait to see more of the one and some of the other.

Blizzard wants to release expansions quicker and make the expansions shorter. It would be very risky to not release it in 2014 seeing as people have had to put up with long waits between expansions since Patch 3.3

But WoD is one of my most looked forward games, too.
Bayonetta 2 as well just to see it (I don't own a Wii U but still).
Titanfall (though not much)
Destiny
Dark Souls 2 (but just to see people's reaction to it).

Not really much, but I haven't looked at the 2014 releases properly yet.

Apart from Transistor, all of my games are Kickstarters like Grim Dawn, Wasteland 2, Broken Age and Shovel Knight.
