Report him to the authorities. The guy is clearly not fit to have custody over any living being.

Also, how old are your friend and his sister?

Well, what jurisdiction do you live in, and what facilities/support services are available?

Also, how old is your friend?

Friend( 18) sister (16)
Problem is when to comes to their father they both have the mentality of a 12 year old
Stockholm syndrome?

Anyway, you should report them to the authorities no matter what they think about it. I've been in their situation too and the best thing to do is find some trustworthy authority and ask for help.

He didn't say 'ask your friend to call the cops', he said 'call the cops'.

If you believe the matter is serious enough to warrant serious action, take serious action.

Even if you don't have any evidence you should make the claim, at least you can say you tried.

the authorities don?t give a fuck ???.ive seen this happen already .what?s gonna happen is the father will spend a day with a psychiatrist and then be let out . he was already let out twice and I already called the cops on him ones.
Then you, my friend, are shit out of luck.

Unless someone else has better advice than 'call the police', but I doubt it.

Call the child protective services.

In fact, do it now before someone gets hurt or killed.

Why don't your friends just move? Plenty of people leave home aged 16-18, so your friend and his sister should just up and out. Maybe rent a place together if money is tight. 'Cause the bottom line is if the authorities take an interest they'll lock the dad up and they'll be living on their own anyway.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I would either advise them to run away or keep calling the cops and either something will happen or there will at least be a paper trail when he finally goes off the deep end and kills one of them.

Show him a few news articles on all these psycho parents killing their children. Then tell them to move well away and don't tell him where they're going.

Tell him his got a duty to protect his little sister.

Tell them to go live with another family member.

...

id ontk now, my first thought was if one of my friends fathers was doing this shit, we'd take him into my house for a bit, work out something with other family to see whats going on, and then my uncle would go pay the father a visit and um... "educate him" on proper child raising.

Convince them to leave. Or Baker Act him. Sure, it's only 72 hours, but maybe they'll find him unfit to return to society and put him in a mental institution for treatment. Once he gets on some meds, he'll be able to chill out and maybe lead a semi-normal life. Maybe once the kids realize that they don't need him, they'll be more willing to do something about taking charge of their own lives.

Honestly, with that situation, I wouldn't be surprised if one or both kids murdered their dad for terrorizing them for so long, because I'm willing to bet that it's been going on for a while.

I don't know whether you can do this in your country, but in England you can claim single parent and unemployment benefits, so your friend's family should be able to function without their Dad working, providing this (or something similar) is the case where you live.

Other than that, I'm afraid that sort of behaviour CANNOT go ignored or excused. If your friend won't call the police or try to get help in any way, I'm afraid you're going to have to do so on his behalf.

Well, call the police. It doesn't matter if nothing happens, call them anyway, something *might* happen. You owe it to your friend.
