seems like a delicate balancing act then huh? you need to know when its as done as its gonna be done unless your 3d realms and can afford 10+ years of dev time

I remember playing Masquarade Bloodlines, not so long after it's relase and with only 1 or 2 patches available at the time I couldn't even get halfway through the game.

I only just recently deceided to try it out again, after getting a new PC but playing it on my big ass 20" (1600x900) monitor just makes the graphics look horrendous. So I stopped playing it again, but I will finish the game one day (^^). If only I had a way to get it from "fullscreen" to "windowed".
There is a way to hack the engine to allow widescreen resolutions.
A few of the cutscenes look really weird, but for the most part, it fixes the aspect ratio issue.

Well I was finally able a complete it some time ago after I altered the registry, to allow me to play it in 720p windowed. Good game and I can't wait to see what CCCP does, with the IP, in their upcoming MMO World of Darkness.

It was the first game I think I played through. Played it through again and again and again. You just want to know how all the NPC's react to the clan you play. Yes they have extra speech lines for every vampire clan! If it is still lieing around in a corner at your place and you did not play it through because the bugs let you burst into tears, GRAB IT. PATCH THE SHIT OUT OF IT!(literally). The community patches are many but GOOD. And give it another try this game is worth it's while.

That Bloodlines is my favourite game ever, despite all its bugs, is something I can't seem to say enough times on these forums.

And I can't keep wondering, with all the well deserved praise this game is getting and the vampire craze in bloom, why no-one is making more gothic punk/urban fantasy RPGs. (Not counting two MMOs, The Secret World and World of Darkness Online, the latter of which doesn't look like it intends to come out any time soon.)

Some guns are not really worth using most of the time, but I don't think Firearms is underpowered. You just need to use the right gun for the job, and you also need a katana to fall back on.

The Deagle and S-AUG are OP with a high Ranged ability, and the Jamie Sue lets you snipe 2 bosses from relative safety. The S-AUG is the best weapon in the game, it's deadly at all ranges, but it runs out of ammo fast if you use it exclusively - with 10 Ranged ability, the crosshairs do not drift while zoomed and the cone of fire while running is fairly tight. Most mini-bosses can be killed with 1x 30-round mag of 9mm, and some vampires can be killed with half a mag. Revolvers are great against zombies; pop their craniums and watch them experience critical existence failure. For ranges > point blank and < long, the Deagle will drop any 2x Medium-size opponents without reloading, including vampires.

The shotgun takes a long time to reload, so don't reload it. Fire 6 shots, then pull out something else. Reload between fights.

I keep hearing mentions of this game time and time again. A remake or a reboot would be in place. Or a similar game at least, taking what was supposedly so great about this game and scratching the bad stuff.
