28 Days Later gave a much-needed boost in the zombie apocalypse genre, in my meaning. It's well written and well executed, and I can honestly say that it's one of the best zombie movies I've ever seen. It's a very intense, frighting and most of all new experience in many ways.

28 Weeks Later on the other half, wasn't really that great. Sure, it had it's moments, but to me it lacked the intensity, depth and feeling of hopelessness that the first movie brought. That being said, if there is a third movie in the making I guess that could explain why 28 Weeks Later didn't give the same experience as the first one, as the "middle child" of trilogies often are the least good of the movies.

As for the question in OP's post, I'd hope to see a resolution, of course. As long as it's not anything cheesy, like humanity proving it's superiority or some super-awesome soldier dude/dudette hacking and slashing their way through hordes of zombies to save the day, I'm all good.

I liked "Days" a lot. And not just because Dr. Who was a prick in it. I liked the fairly believable end-of-the-world feel and the gritty look. I also liked the surprise of finding out these were not zombies as my clueless friends had implied. They're infected. And they die, given long enough.

"Weeks" was not great. I don't think it threw up a neon sign saying "come suck here," but it certainly wasn't memorable enough for me to retain much of anything that happened in it, or to rent it again. Which is too bad, because I like Robert Carlyle.

I enjoyed them both, although Weeks certainly didn't capture the raw, unrelenting dread that Days did. I suspect this had to do with the thinly veiled political statement on the occupation of Iraq twisting the movie to a more 'actiony' feel. Still, the 'reunion' between Dan and his wife still ranks as one of my favorite Horror Movie moments.
Fingers.

DON'T.

Go.

Into.

Eyes.

That is all.

I actually liked Weeks a lot. Days had a killer beginning, but I really hated the ending. The entire part with the soldiers really killed it for me.

Haven't seen the sequel. I though the first one was shite, despite having Naomie Harris in.

I really like them both. Days is better, but Weeks is still good.

HOWEVER, the way the infection gets out in Weeks is one of the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a movie, totally took me out of the experience. Though I have to admit the opening to Weeks is really F**king incredible.

Ahh '28 XXXX later', the moron's zombie film.
As much a dude as Robert Carlyle is, 28 weeks was just too conservative politics-wise for my taste.
"Oh whats that? We need uncle sam to come bail us out again? Thanls America!"

I fucking loved 28 Days Later. It was atmospheric, believable, original, shocking, and a bit dramatic. Grade-A zombie movie, a must-watch.

28 Weeks Later, I haven't seen. No clue.

Days is a better film than Weeks, but they're both good zombie films. The sequel just seemed poorer, partly because the major plot points hinged on the utter stupidity of the characters involved.

I love them, even though the second one lacked the atmosphere of the first. The main theme used for the movie was really great too. Perfectly fits the cinematic scene at the end of the first movie. :D
By 'cinematic scene at the end' do you mean the original or alternate ending?
The alternate being Jim's death in the hospital

Regardless, have to agree with the above. 28 Days Later sports an opening featuring such well-done ambiance and isolation tactics, that it's easily one of my favorite openings in cinema historys.
And while 28 Weeks Later faltered on delivering the same thrills of the environment, it still managed to be a pretty good film.

"Days" was pretty awesome. It delivered for horror, good plotline, and characters you gave a damn about. And, despite being a modern horror movie, *mild spoiler* it didn't succumb to that awful trend where all the main characters die.

Weeks was a decent sequel (though not as good as the original). It had everything the original had... except for the characters. My biggest problem was that *bigger spoiler* it kept killing off the characters that you think you're supposed to be rooting for. First the father, then the sniper, then the medic, until finally you're left with the two kids as the heros (which pissed me the hell off because I couldn't wait for them to die).

The first movie I liked, because the characters who survived, were the ones who acted smart and kept their heads. The second movie was just the opposite, but it was still fun to watch.

I Just got finished watching "28 Days Later" for the second time and I was wondering what my fellow Escapists thought of the two movies that are out.

I (as you may have guessed already) really enjoy the series. The second one was, in my opinion, not as great as the first, seeing that it lacked a humanity feel that the first one did really well. I also found the first movie to be very symbolic. Humanity's weakness, vulnerability, and connection with the infected are all shown through brilliantly executed symbolism that I won't discuss on fear of ruining the movie for those who haven't seen it. (I don't know how to make one of those box things.)

So, does anyone think that there will be a "28 Months Later"? What do you want/not want to see in an upcoming sequel?
Loved 28 days later, 28 weeks later was pretty crap, waiting to see if they plan on making a 3rd ^_^

I enjoyed both, but I'm more of an action guy so I preferred Weeks. Days was pretty awesome, though, and I can't wait for Months to come out.
