I like how blizzard is stuck paying server costs forever, I hope it bleeds them dry.
Actually it works the other way. They pay for server costs, but charge auction fees. Overall they should make a profit by keeping the servers up. Which makes this charade even more silly.

That is what they are hoping but it all depends on how much people use the auction house with real money, its too much to hope that no one uses it with real money but considering the kind of game it is, I have doubts about just how much you could make from people paying real money, I mean apparently in game currency is almost too easy to get so it would just be easier to use it.

If you have alternative cars, you don't really need another one specially if it's still not fixed.

One thing is buying a Countach, it's flaws can be ignored if you just love the car to death. It's not practical. It's not what you want from an automobile. But you love it.

But I would be reluctant to buy a car that I can't even drive when I want and that does break once in a while.
The thing with a Countach is its flaws are what make it special. The sheer outrageous nature of the car is what sells it. When it acts like a temperamental *****, or you cook in the summer because there are no windows and the A/C is like having a crack whore huffing on you. You deal with it, because it's not designed to be a functional vehicle in the common sense. It's purpose in life is to exist for the sake of it.

I don't think Diablo 3 works the same way. It's not outrageous, it doesn't do anything that no other game does, It's purpose in life is to provide a service.
Diablo 3 is a Toyota Corolla that will only start 2 days out of every week, leaving you to walk to work the rest of the time. That'd piss me the fuck off.

I get that it is annoying that the servers have been unstable. Yes, it sucked to get propelled out of the game just when I was about to have my epic showdown with Diablo himself. But, really, what's the big deal? I turned off the game, called some of my neglected family, did some reading, played some other games and a few hours later the servers were back up.

The thing is, we all know that this is temporary. Diablo 3 ain't going nowhere, it will still be playable a few days, weeks, months or even years (most likely) from now. So relax. This ain't like the people who paid for Rage and got stuck with an unplayable product for months at an end until ID finally got their act together and patched it.

As it is, Diablo 3 is shaping up to get some really stellar developer support after release. Let Blizzard work out the kinks, releasing a game to 6+ million people is quite demanding.

The thing is; most people have payed 60 dollars for this game. Some even more (Like 80 dollars in my case, since I'm from Norway). We payed because we want to have the option to play the game, when ever it's convenient for US. The PAYING customer.

Yes, it's excactly like Rage. Not being able to play a game is the very definition of unplayable, and so far it's been nearly a month with unstable servers and whatnot.

So did I and according to my in-game profile I've clocked 25 hours since last Sunday (when I bought the game). I get that people want to play, as I do too, but the servers not being up is not the end of the world. Especially when the servers are down because Blizzard are working on improving stability.

I mean, in the perfect world we'd all get to play merrily on our cloud gaming system without any hiccups whatsoever. But in real life internet servers and the like are notoriously unstable and require lot of maintenance, especially if they get a few million users daily. As I said, Diablo III ain't going anywhere so your game will still be around to be played in a few weeks when the servers are more stable.

Personally I think the whole "always online"-thing is kind of silly, but we all knew the premise when we bought the game and anyone with some experience of online gaming could have forseen the problems that Diablo 3 has been encountering server-wise.
