Holy crap, if you'll excuse the language, 3 YEARS! 3 years of posting on the Escapist, fighting through March Mayhems, competitions, reviews, new staff, new mods, new features and articles, User Groups [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-TARDIS-Crew] old and new, long gone but still awesome video series [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/doomsday-arcade], new awesome [http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/57/57201.jpg] video series [http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/61/61677.jpg], old users long gone (MaxTheReaper anyone?), new spunky users take on the roles of regulars the forums. And, of course, a sea of ponies [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/MLP-Friendship-is-Magic].

I hadn't been keeping track of my posting but since my original join date was August 2008, it makes rough sense. I have to say, it's been worth every single post.

Actual point to thread:
So what do you remember from the last 3 years, Escapist or otherwise. Anything long since lost that you still remember, things you are thankful are gone? Or a personal view, a landmark in your life over the last three years?

Spoiler: This was the best picture I could find that did not involve ponies, I hope you're all happy that I resisted the urge ;)

Thanks to everyone who has made my experience here a hugely enjoyable place, there are way too many people to mention but you all know who you are!

I remember visiting a girl who did an internship at Disneyworld, telling her I wanted a relationship, getting a "no" in the form of her going out with another guy, her engagement to said guy, their nasty breakup, and that we're planning on having lunch together today. Fun stuff, no?

I remember lurking for a while

I remember seeing a sudden spike in people "leaving" or becoming quite upset/annoyed at the escapist and the people here for reasons unknown to me.

I remember seeing people banned, people I had seen posting in EVERYTHING.

I remember Finally making an account. ;D

I remember seeing some funny video series start and end [ but lets not go there...]

Hey me too! Was quite surprised when I got that badge too.

Hmm last three years... well other than lurking here, seeing video series come and go (I still miss De-rez). I've been plowing through Uni, in fact I first joined the Escapist as one of my lecturers played us one of Yahtzee's earliest videos.

I just got my regular badge today! Hurray, although I did lurk for about a year or so before I made an account. I was brought here by stumbling onto the first few Zero Punctuation episodes on Youtube. I remember getting completely sucked into every video series that was currently running back them, spending most of the nights watching the back-catalogue of Apocalypse Lane, Unskippable, and Unforgotten Realms. Then I discovered the Video Archive and stayed in my room for about a week watching all the older stuff.

I also remember the Zynga March Mayhem catastrophe last year, and am still patiently waiting for Doraleous and Associates to return to us.

Huh. I just got that badge myself.

But yeah, on topic, I remember ZP used to have better opening and closing music. Then there was ENN, which was brilliant. There were great video series like Rebecca Mayes Muses and Doraleous and Associates, and others that weren't as good, such as Game Dogs and Apocalypse Lane.

I also remember as far back as the introduction of user groups, which I thought were pretty stupid at first, but now, although I'm still not terribly involved with them, I like a bit more.

And then a great many notable users having come and gone, with many just completely incapable of following the rules for some reason. I mean, come on, I've been here for this long and posted a fairly decent number of times but I still haven't received any moderator attention. If I can do it, surely anyone can?

EDIT: Yeah, congratulations Rusman and Timelord. 3 years is quite a while...

I'm glad you all stuck around for so long!
As far as remembering things goes, I'm incredibly horrible at listing off histories with such a vague prompt.
Um...there were LOTS of bannings, with a handful of people I enjoyed talking with being smacked off the site. A couple of series came and went, most of which got a resounding "meh" from me. And other vague things happened too.

Three years ago, I was a Regular on a different website. Had a bit of a reputation, and I liked the modicum of fame I'd nabbed, but three years ago I was an internet dick, so I stopped going there when I'd read my old posts and think, "God, what an asshole."
Still, after being at least somewhat venerable, it's kind of odd being the newbie again.

OT: While I may have just gotten my regular badge today I've been on the site since around july of 2008 after ZP dragged me here and I really didn't start posting till a year ago. I do remember the ended or cancelled series that I would watch every week. I do remember my days just about 5 months ago when I had under 1000 posts and not knowing all the escapist had to offer. All I know is that this site is awesome and it has taken over my life and I don't think I'll be able to leave anytime soon
