I cut it some slack for being the movie that has to establish everything. That's always a burden for the first movie in comic adaptation series. Hellboy 2! Big Red Ron Perlman fighting Evil Glam-Rock Elves! The only way that could be cooler is if David Bowie was The Glam Elf King. He could even wear his outfit from Labyrinth.

First there was a historical event. Then there was as bad historian who turned it into legend (hence the mutated Persians). Then the story was hollywoodised movie 300 Spartans.
