"...will feature big innovations."

That, to me, just said "We're looking at bringing you more of the same old shit...just in a different manner."

I'll believe it when I see it.

Makes "I'll believe it when I see it face." Followed by "Not tremendously impressed" face.
Followed by cake.

As long as armorlock is gone(and not replaced by something more annoying), I'll be happy. What was Bungie thinking with that -_-

I don't care where the series goes.

I just want to fly the damned Pelican!

Come on 343 Ind, modders had us Custom Editio players blamming around in the Pelican, Broadswords, Scarabs, even the frickin' Pillar of Autumn. Bungie had seven years to make right and let us pretend to be Echo 419 but they never bothered. You people know it makes sense!

PS# I would love to see a Battlefield (or even better Quake Wars) style game centered around the Halo universe.

You already could fly a pelican.

OT: I'll invest some hype when I see some gameplay.

good to see bungie won't be behind it, they had a terrible habit of making each game that much more annoying than the last, or keeping stuff single player exclusive, who here wants King of The Hill with a Scarab?

Doesn't seem at all noteworthy.

To be honest, I don't think this is even worthy of a thread, let alone a news article.

Whatever they do I really would love to play on the side of the Covenant during their intergalactic crusade. I never liked the marines in the Halo games, as a matter of fact, I would always shoot them. When Halo 2 came out and I heard you could play as an Elite I was incredibly excited. The result: shooting more Covenant and Flood.

I want to control Covenant vehicles. I want to be the commanding a Scarab and wreak havoc on human settlements. I want to be in the thick of battle, in space, on the ground, reconnaissance or a full-blown assault. I want to fight with Elites, Grunts, Jackals, Hunters and more. I would love to see an Elite Councilor express his disagreement with the continuous slaughtering of mankind, I would love to see the tensions within the own Covenant increase. I would love to see the cultures of these species, not play another Über-soldier effortlessly performing one feat of chest-pounding, military bravado after another.

I liked this quote:

"You've got to say 'what can we do to make this better?' It doesn't matter if that is a giant innovation or a small tweak, you've got to do it all over the board. That's how Bungie approaches it."

This is an idea that has always interested me as well. There just seems to be a more interesting side to it from the Covenant perspective. That religious zeal would at least add something interesting to your ai buddies. I'd probably squeal if you get to play as half-jaw and they take advantage of the Covenant hierarchy and the ulterior motives of the prophets from an elite shipmaster's point of view.

343 Studios != Bungie. 343 is the studio Mircosoft's using to develop the Halo IP now that Bungie have moved on, as per their promise.

At this point Halo has pretty much become a shiny green blur on the shelves on my way to buying more interesting stuff...

Indeed. The main thing I'm looking forward to, however, is killing Spartans and marines. Apart from the fact that the UNSC would be a formiddable foe to fight, the merciless massacre of human colonies must be trying for even the most devoted member of the Covenant. It would be great to experience the events prior to Halo: Reach, to invade Reach, to follow the Pillar of Autumn and re-experience Halo: Combat Evolved through the eyes of an Elite.

This choice could have numerous benefits for both the gamer and the developer. For instance, the storyline, when played through the eyes of the Covenant, would give you a whole new experience, with some old scenarios that would evoke the gamer with nostalgia and familiarity. Furthermore, you could witness everything: the beginning of the Human-Covenant War all the way to the aftermath of the Great Schism. To provide a fun experience for the gamers you would have to launch several sequels, which (if done well) would bring a huge profit to Microsoft/343 Studios.

Moreover, multiplayer could have more artistic freedom. You could play in the ruins of colonies, or during a huge battlefield. Space combat could easily be introduced for online gameplay and with a Star Wars: Battlefront-esque touch you could board enemy ships and sabotage them. Perhaps you could go even further and make a new sort of multiplayer mode, something that requires multiple stages to complete.

1) Space combat. Two huge fleets must cripple the enemy's defense systems, board and fight their way through the heart of the ship and hack/sabotage the engines, causing the ship to crash into the planet below.

2) Whoever won the previous match will be rewarded with better weaponry and a some kind of headstart. The second battle will be a wide-scaled variant of Team Slayer. The maps could vary as you can either have crashed on a human colony, Forerunner ruins, an alien world (lush woods or a volcanic barren wasteland), or even a Halo.

3) Final match. Whoever won the second match will have driven the enemy forces from their base, therefore changing the gameplay into a CTF/Oddball-esque match, in which survivors will attempt to defend/extract data, or something like that. The victors from the previous match will have to get this data at all cost and a cat-and-mouse game ensues.

EDIT: corrected spelling errors.
