I tend to favor the Xbox 360 for most things, partly due to the controller, I also much prefer it to the Playstation one.

As for Games, essentially all multiplatform games I buy for the Xbox, except when I know that the PS3 version is better, FFXIII for example (to bad the game sucks though).

I own both (and a PC) for the consoles, my PS3 gets more attention from me, but mainly because PS3 games are much more easier to find here than 360 games. If we consider PC, then the PC wins by a mile.

This is because my friends have Xboxes so I can multiplay with them. I singleplay on the PS3 because (watch out, opinion incoming) it is better, apart from the controllers.
I prefer the Dualshocks (oh no I'm calling them by the official name, I'M A FANBOY!) over the Xbox ones, I can play Half Life 2 and Crackdown no problems, but any other game I get cramps.
Can't... stop... staring... at... avatar... o.o

360 gamer here. I find that between the two systems, there are better exclusives on the 360 than on the PS3. Though I would gladly purchase a PS3 just for the God of War games and Heavy Rain.

I was raised on the playstation controller, I had a Playstation then a PS2 followed by a PS3; the Xbox is the last console I bought. What I'm trying to say is I never thought I'd end up preferring the Xbox controller to the Playstation one, but I do.

The main reason is because I have huge hands, the Xbox controllers fit my hands but the comparably tiny Playstation ones do not, they feel like a toy version. I always end up with gamers cramp after a decent session on the Playstation but not after an extended time on the Xbox. It's a purely ergonomic reason, nothing else to it.
Really? thats strange, I have huge plate like hands and thats the reason I don't like the Xbox controller, I get cramp after 3 minutes with the thing.

I don't play games for any longer time than 1 hour so I'm not too sure if thats a marathon gaming session to you.

Although what we can conclude is your opinion is different to mine, ergo it is wrong.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Seriously, that is odd. I mean I see it as a logical thing, Japanese people are generally considerably smaller than I am and so will have a controller that is designed to fit their (smaller) hands. Western people are, well they're still mostly smaller than me but, generally bigger than the Japanese and so have hardware that is made for slightly larger people.

I guess it just comes down to what you are used to initially, I found it hard to get used to the Xbox originally but once I had I preferred it. Tomaytoe tomahtoe and all that.
What an epic reversal, I have been beating by the wittier man here!.

Well the western Dualshocks are 17% larger than the Japanese ones to accomadate our bigger hand spans, which is strange because the PS3 itself is bigger than most Japanese cars.

One final thing, a marathon session for me is an embarrassing eight hours or so. They don't happen very often, and when they do I emerge the other side somewhat shellshocked and 'basic' (give food, need wee), but they are good fun.
Holy Mary!
Hehe, I will now smugly puff on my pipe. ;)

That's interesting about the size increase in the PS controllers for us Westerners, I didn't know that.

And yeah, I know >.<

Apologies to OP, I know I don't fit your criteria. I hope I'll be forgiven, though.

I don't own an Xbox360, but I've played it considerably at friends' places, so I have a very good feel of what it's all about. Based on that, I'll just answer the question in a hypothetical sense; assuming I had bought a Xbox360. Which I'm considering strongly, mind you. I'm pretty sure I'd get all games I could to PS3, as I simply favor it for a host of reasons, definitely including graphics that I find superior, if only slightly.

What my hypothetical Xbox360 is used for is, simply, to play exclusive games. Stuff like Dead Rising and Alan Wake. If I had one at the time, I would definitely have gotten Mass Effect for it, as well, since the PC port for the first game left me wanting for a less flawed game.

Don't worry, it's not a versus thread...

For the percentage of people who are lucky enough to own both consoles, what games do you get for either? I mean, platform exclusives are obvious, but do you have a console you favour? Do you like the PS3 for racing games and the 360 for shooters?

This isn't a queation of which you prefer but more which you favour, even if it's subconsciously.
I have both... though sometimes I wonder if I'd have been better off just sticking with PC.

And I follow analysis of sites like Beyond3D and Digital Foundry to usually get the best version of each:
Like Bayonetta plays MUCH better on 360... though at other times I'll favour PS3 for the free online aspect or controller preference (PS3's d-pad is perfect for 2D games like Mega Man 9)

Mostly though, PS3 gets most of my attention thanks to Sony putting so much effort into their First Party exclusives, Microsoft seems to have leaned on Halo way too much and overall not many firsts projects and subsequently not as many games worth getting, Gears and that's about it.

I'm lucky enough to have both, and I tend to play my 360 more. I got it first, and I have to say, there's something satisfying about seeing my gamerscore go up even if it's meaningless. I use my PS3 for exclusives and Blu-Ray almost exclusively. Although I also have Dragon Age for it, since I was late to the show in getting the CE, and it was the only platform I could find it for. I've probably clocked more hours in that one game than almost any other title on this generation.

I buy almost everything for my 360, massive prefer it to the ps3, mine only reason for owning one is for its exclusives. Otherwise its 360 all the way, unless multi-play games play better on ps3, which is rarely the case. If they are better on ps3 and have no multiplayer then I buy on ps3, but other wise its not the case.

Library of 360 games = 40+
Library of ps3 games = 5

I have owned a 360 since 2005. I just bought my first PS3 along with Red Dead Redemption and the first Uncharted game. Although I am somewhat of an Achievement hound, I wanted to be able to play PS3 exclusives (specifically Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain). I was REALLY disappointed with the quality of the graphics on the 360 version of Dragon Age: Origins and I understand they PS3 version is much better.

I think that, initially, the PS3 ports of multi-console games were of a poorer graphics quality (Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Farcry 2). However, I think that may be changing. At least I hope it is.

Xbox Live still has a superior version of Netflix - probably an agreement they made with Microsoft.

I think now that the price has dropped, Sony will sell a lot more PS3 consoles and the number and quality of titles will improve.

PS3 is used mostly for exclusives, or for the games which I find on some kind of discount for the PS3. I found that Mirrors Edge felt a little better with the PS3 controler.

Otherwise I get things on the 360. I have more friends with 360 so it makes for easier on-line gaming, or if I want to loan out a game. I also have 2 360's since I use it for media streaming in the bedroom. So if I do want to play in the other room, I want to have the bulk of my games work in there.

I have both. I just usually flip a coin if the game's multi-platform. I couldn't care less about minor graphical differences, and I have friends on both consoles. So yeah.

Doesn't matter what genre is on which, I can use both controllers just fine, and have fun either way.

I tend to try to buy for the PS3 though, since my 360's hard drive is small and I'll be damned if I pay that much for a 120gb hard drive when I could get twice that for cheaper for my PS3/PC

It really doesn't matter for me, except that I NEVER buy fighters for the 360 when I can get them for PS3, it would just be absurd.
