Remember that post about a week ago where I praised GameStop for quick service on replacing my RRoD 360? Well, the "new" one just died on me, giving me the RLoD (not the ring, just one light) and error E74. Tried all the do-it-yourself easy fixes, and none of them work, so I'm out of a 360. Again.

At least I got the warranty again. I'm going to see if I can trade it towards a new (not refurbished) system, because this is just ridiculous.

Did you try giving it a nice Fluffy Towel [http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/15/towel-trick-provides-temporary-fix-to-xbox-360s-red-ring-of-d/]? I hear that works nicely, for some reason. Although getting a new one would probably be a more logical and more effective solution. Good luck with the new one, hopefully you will get the one working XBox on the planet.

Sorry to hear that dude...and I don't mean to put a hamper on everything or be a troll (God no), but I have one of the original x-boxes (paid 400 friggin dollars for the 20 gig hd) and have never had a problem with it.... Sounds like bad luck to me. I'm sure the next one will work though *fingers crossed*

Beat them round the head with the system too for the bother, it sucks that they couldn't provide a working console.

If it broke in the first week, you should be able to take it back for a replacement without having to get the new warranty as it's covered in Gamestop's store warranty for broken things.

Your absolutley right, this IS ridiculous! I hope you dont color me a fanboy for posting this, but if you dont have too many 360 games your attatched to you might wanna consider a swwitch in consoles altogether (even though you could sell the games anyways). I wouldnt normally recommend something like that, but I mean the damn thing has died twice on you in 2 weeks...

I got the RRoD three times in six months... not quite THIS impressive, though.

I had the error e74 on my Xbox too. Never got the RRoD. Unfortunately my Xbox was past warranty and that error wasn't covered under the RRoD extended warranty. I had to pay for the repair.

I see your point, but right now the only reasons I'd switch systems are Killzone 2 and God of War 3...neither of which are even out yet, and I'm not switching systems over unreleased games. (*cough*FF13 FANBOYS*cough*)

Plus, I play a lot over Live and use it to keep in touch with one of my best friends, so yeah, no thanks.

PS. For a fanboy, you give a surprisingly coherent argument. ;)

I've had my 360 for over a year - no problems at all...this is just incredibly unlucky in my opinion.

LOL you have no idea how hard it was to send one of YOU a message w/out the words "xbot, KillZone, msfanboy, or 'at least my console doesn't die!'" I guess there really is no talking to you people... :)

Anyways, your point is understood. I really hope you have better luck with the next console.[/sincere]

EDIT: FF13 will be out for both systems at the same time btw

Like I say to anyone who's equipment breaks down more than twice (mainly directed to 360 owners, I'll admit), the willingness to bend over for [insert company name here] with so many people is astounding.

Getting your 360 replaced/fixed, and yet have it break in a week? That's atrocious to you as their customer. Oh sure, they fix it for free, they extended the warranty, blah-de-blah-blah, but they should never even need to extend the warranty and have you worried if today will be "the day".

If my PS3 broke down 3 times, Sony would lose a customer. Once is understandable, things happen. A second time is a stretch, but if they still fix it for you it's good, you still want to play games. Third time's the charm, though, and I will not tolerate this treatment to myself as a consumer to your company.

You can keep your 360s as long as it makes you happy, I don't care what you do with it. Most likely I'd be a complete hypocrite and keep playing my PS3 even if it did break down 5 times. I'm just saying that you, as a customer, should not tolerate this kind of manufacturing from a company that you buy from.

Pretty much the exact same thing happened to me. First box died after a solid year (disc drive went no RROD). Picked up a refurbished one from Gamestop. First day it worked perfectly. Second time using it (a few days later) RROD. Took it back and since I had bought the year warranty I was able to get a new arcade for 10 bucks more (with the 5 game disc and memory card). It never gave me a problem since (tv on the other hand went soon after the rrod).
