360 just fried....

I have a question. For those who have sent theirs in. Do you lose all your data? I.e. do they take the hard drive???

If you send in your hard drive, they'll send it back seperately, along with any game that's in it.

And sometimes, they send it to the wrong person, and if they do that, don't expect it back.

I have someone's hard drive and NHL08 game because of that, and tehy told me to keep it.

the RRoD is a genetic disease.

If your system has the genes for it, it's probably going to happen, and there's not TOO much in the way of preventatives that you can do to stop an RRoD from occuring. Keep its vents clear and hope for the best.

No but he probably would have got the drive failure instead, not as wide spread granted but still turing out to be a big issue for the big black beast.

big issue?? holy crap dude about 5 or 6 people had it world wide ROTFLMAO ... the 360 on the other hand .. well .. lets say EVERY person i have ever known that owns a 360 had the ring of fire at least once ... at least ROTFL .. no one i know with a ps3 has had drive failure yet

No, the Hard Drive stays with you unless noted by the support agent.

whew.....okay for a while i was scared there. Now it doesnt seem so scary suddenly. + if mine dies in the next 3 months when Microsoft give out their new chips i will get an updated version. Someone said something about refreshing the warranty...is that true? Im a new 360 owner.

I just got mine back. It was out of 1-year warranty when I sent it in for RROD (covered by 3-year warranty). It now shows as "under warranty" on my status on xbox's support site.

When I sent it in, I was hoping to get a falcon chipset, or even the updated original chipset, but I think I got a refurbished original one. I haven't looked at it closely enough, but the DVD is a LOT quieter now
