No flames here, everyone is pretty much just saying to get a real console.

(disclaimer- I'm a PC gamer, I don't own a Xbox)

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! It's proving valuable! I was worried I'd have to lose sleep over this...

Wii = Only a party machine. Don't expect much in terms of game depth etc, but can have a few laughs sober or drunk with it. Expect it to gather dust quickly if you don't have many parties.
Which is precisely why you should get a 360.

Besides, the xbox has its fair share of "party games". Left4dead is plenty fun...

Well, if I didn't have a Ps3, I'd definitely recommend a 360 if I were you. It does have a decent list of games, and though I dislike the controller, I think you'll like the choices it has.

*would recommend a PS3, but knows he'll be flamed by retards the second he does*

It's really dependant on your tastes. The Wii has some really original and fun games, more so than the 360, but the 360 has the biggest game library out of all the consoles. If you like RPGs and FPSs, go for the 360.

If you like Nintendo's first party offerings and some really original titles, go for the Wii. You can't go wrong with either, I have about 20 Wii games, all that I love, with around five or so more that I want, but bear in mind the size of the 360's library pretty much means you wont' be disappointed at all.

Whichever you choose, get the other one as well, it's a good combination for the total they would cost. I do find it funny about the party machine hyperbole. I only have around 3 games that could be good with groups of people, the rest are more solitary or co-op oriented.

I think the big question is do you want to play games (360) or have a load of fun (Wii). Obviously these aren't mutually exclusive as there are plenty of games on the Wii that are deep and immersive, and obviously playing immersive games is fun but a different kind of fun.

So basically figure out which one you'll enjoy more and go that way.

I think it really comes down to what you enjoy to play. There are a few nice single-player titles for the Wii, and a lot of party-style games. The Xbox 360 has a lot of great single-player games and a few party-style games. What do you think you will be doing more of?

I would tell you to look at the games list and see what games you like for both systems and then look at the future releases. Pick the one with the most choices for you. It's all about the games in the end. Who cares how many polygons a character is made of if you aren't going to have fun playing the game...

For having only a Wii myself, I say go the 360. The Wii is certainly great for party games, and in my opinion has little competition there. But it has little else. The 360 on the other hand has quite a few solid RPGs, and its own collection of party games.

Thanks for the input! Well I'm off to price 360s now! And then several days without sleep while I enjoy some new games!

Get a 360. There are a lot more RPGs on it than the Wii; things such as Oblivion, FAllout 3, Fable 2, Mass Effect, all sorts of games can be named.

Haha wow, is this a serious question? The wii is a waste of time. They've only just released an addon to make it do what it was supposed to do anyway, and they're charging you for it, and it STILL sucks. Xbox 360!

360 is longer lasting and more serious, unless you have friends or family to play with ALL the time :)
