I just bought a 3D TV and it came with a 3d blue ray player...I already own a PS3 and one of the latest firm ware updates makes the PS3 play 3D movies...So the big question is, Is there any point in using the New blue ray player? Or should I sell it to a friend...and why.

Oh look at Mr Moneybags over here with his PS3 and his 3D TV and new Blu-Ray player with 3D...

Nah, I'm just joking you, but seriously, that must have put a hole in your wallet so sell that little ***** to your friend. PS3 plays all the Blu-Ray you need so why have something that does that and less? It's like having the choice between two pieces of chicken when starving, a bigger piece and a smaller piece. You would obviously have the bigger piece (Unless you go all children's fairytale and moral issues, then you lose your appetite).

Calumon: What's wrong with this Dimenshia... Dymansha... with this D thing?

Agreed with Jack here.

Unless you are really interested in how your picture looks, the PS3 will probably be as good for playing 3D blu-ray. I can't see it being too different though.

As far as I know, there's no difference in quality between the two. I have not had the opportunity to try it for myself though, so that's based on hearsay and some friends who use a PS3 to do it.

I would have thought there would be next to no difference. I would personally sell the Blu-Ray player.

Honestly, can a Blu-Ray player play games? I think not, keep the PS3. They're 3D-compatible anyway, I think, all you need is a software update.

I thought there was a difference, but it depends on the blu ray player. I not sure if the PS3 plays tru HD DTS or something like that. Usually blu ray player does. But then you would need a reciever that does tru HD DTS or something like that.

I have both a blu-ray player and a PS3. The PS3 came later which is why I have both. The only difference I can tell between them is the PS3 loads much faster. Now that the PS3 has a Netflix interface, my blu-ray player will probably become a xmas gift for my brother or something.
