Either it will bounce back and forth as a fad, or it will grow up, start being used properly in compelling, innovative ways, and find a stable niche.

wont go, more likely it will just be improved to the point that it actually becomes good. technology has reached the stage now were it is a much more viable gimmick.

I sure hope so it adds nothing to any form of media, with the exception of some "adult" media . But I hate how everyone in the entertainment is going on about how amazing it is. It's not, it's more like watching a nice view while someone prodes their finger in and out in front of you, it's just plain annoying. 3D has and always will be a cheap gimmick beg your pardon an expensive gimmick.

I hope that the next time 3D rolls around it will be full holograms or some scientists will be getting some phone calls asking what have they been doing all this time.

Honestly, I wish my 3D TV had more movies and games I could use it with. :/

As far as 3D in movies, though, why would they get rid of something that currently allows them to sell tickets at twice the price? I'm not keen to waste my money on it in theatres, and neither are a lot of other people I know, but profitability is kind of what business run on and movies are a business. So, if you want 3D to go away, make sure nobody goes to see movies in 3D at the box office anymore.

... Why would it go away? Have you watched Avatar? It looks fucking amazing.

Give <20 years and that's what we'll have at home.

People said LCD was a gimmick first, as with CDs. Stop being such hipsters.

My Father got his 72" 3D tv, and all the necessary accessories for $2800. How is that expensive? And the 3D on it is beyond incredible, even better than in theaters.

What he said, only it is already better now than in theaters.
