Didn't we have 3D for, what, at least 10 freaking years?

Why the hell is it getting so popular now? Is it because of Avatar?

Because maybe it made so much because, you know, people liked the movie.
Before, 3D was just a gimmicky effect put in as an after effect. The whole movie would be in 2D, with certain parts being in 3D.

Now, most 3D movies are entirely in 3D. With everything coming out of the screen, as if you are right next to it.

This concept of three dimensions from a movie/game confuses and angers Sleek

Really I just hope this is going to be a fad otherwise we'll end up with 3D porn and that will disturb even me

3D never seems to work for me...

It always gives me one hell of a headache and makes me feel unpleasent.

Its because of the leap in technology.

Y'now that Red/Green Shizz? Well basically now the glasses still have a similar effect, but they dont have those colorings...Its a long drawn out technological explination that i cannot be arse S'plaining.

I love it, like a lot. I watched Avatar and Alice in Wonderland in 3D and damn I wish I could watch every movie in 3D.

I definitely don't agree that it doesn't add to the experience, it does to me. The added depth (I don't care about the old, things-come-out-of-the-screen spiel) really adds to the immersion for me. Nor are the glasses uncomfortable for me, as I'm used to glasses and the glasses at my local cinema are pretty dang good.

It's not very convient at home, but in theatres I'd love to see all my movies in 3D. Iron Man in 3D....ohhhh DO WANT.

Ah. Well in addition to reasons I specified above, I don't feel like wearing funny glasses or somesuch just to watch movies/tv/play games.

I still have some shred of dignity left thank you very much.

I saw Avatar in 3D. It looked great and all, but it really distracts from the story and characters, plus it gave me splitting headache for the rest of the day.

I'll stick with good ol' fashion 2D.

If they can get the technology where its easier on the eyes and not as expensive, it might
start to grow in popularity. It needs a little more refinement.

Hehe, yeah but I already wear glasses, so 3D glasses don't exactly sit well with me :p I get headaches with just the 3D glasses, and its 10x worse with my glasses and 3D ones.

I don't like it at all. I actually went to go see How to Train Your Dragon yesterday (Which is a brilliant movie. Best Dreamworks animation since Shrek, and it actually might be better) and I hardly noticed anything. The one thing I did notice is that instead of trying to make things come out of the screen, they're trying to give things depth instead, which I like, but not enough to make myself look like an idiot wearing these huge glasses over my regular glasses. They're also very uncomfortable.
I noticed that about Avatar. It's not so much about stuff coming out towards you as it is about giving the background more depth, which I really liked.

I dont get headaches from 3d, but no matter how fancy the glasses are it always messes up to colours way too much to justify itself. The 3d effect itself is cool though...

We need to come up with a new term for them. This "3d" crap bugs me. Shrek is in 3d by standard convention, Simpsons is 2d by standard convention. Now this 3d glasses stuff is pissing all over a perfectly fine convention. As far as the "3d" cinema stuff goes I hope it leaves soon because it annoys my eyes even when I'm relaxing them and doesn't add much to the experience.

No. No. No. No. No. Movies could work, not games.

[sub]VIRTUAL BOY, REMEBER THAT PIECE OF S***![/sub]
The Virtual Boy had its problems. But that wasn't the fault of Gunpei Yokoi (the maker) actually. Nintendo cut the costs dramatically by taking out everything that could have made it great, such as small things like color. -_-;

On top of that, rather than make it to his specs, they forced Yokoi to market it. Alone, with no help whatsoever to the company, forcing his resignation.

To give you perspective, this was also the man that made Metroid and Game and Watch. He was the one that literally pulled Nintendo out of the gaming crisis. And they treated him like a rag headed step child in the end.

Also, you want to see bad 3D? Clash of the Titans. There ya go.
