(Ignoring the fact that all my friends say wait for the new PSP...)
With the recent price drop for the 3DS Handheld, and the upcoming titles, I'm very tempted to pick it up for myself. I go on trips alot and need something to distract me and my PSP games are getting kind of bland.

Would christmas time be the best time to buy one? Or should I wait until after Christmas to pick one up? I'm not too sure since Consoles seem cheap during the Christmas sales but end up being cheaper afterward. Adding onto that - what are the necessities for it? I hear the screen gets scratched if you close it and move it around alot so a cloth or screen protectors are necessary. Anything else I should know about/get? I appreciate any answers.

Considering it's Nintendo I kinda doubt they'll drop it any further. I got the 3ds when it was $250 and I'd say it was worth it. As for necessities all I can think of are a computer that you put sd card in and that's only if you want to put things like music in it. I haven't seen any real scratches on mine and let me point out that my 3ds has been in the hands of my younger sister and cousins. (who are in the 2nd grade.) It is prone to getting smudges on it though. Hope this helps.

I'd get the system now, and the games after. Better chance at finding some Used.

If the DSI is anything to go by, you wont get major scratches unless you take scissors to the screen, but yeah smudges galore. A microfiber cloth will take care of those though... or any soft cloth really.

Thank you both. I guess I'll take a look into purchasing it soon, then.

Mmm so what I heard was true, screen protectors/cloth are pretty damned important.
