3DS: New Triumph or Pile of Shit

The 3DS has yet to come out, but i figure we should probably get this out of the way. The 3DS can apparently render a game in full 3D without glasses. It's completely bewildering how Nintendo will market it in commercials since it's impossible to relate its effects.
However with simply the hype and the coverage of it at E3.

What do you think of the 3DS?

We can't really judge the system until it is released. While I do think the whole "3D" craze right now is a gimmick and nothing else, I do like the fact that a lot of my old favorite N64 games are coming to the 3DS.

Still, I'm not too excited about buying yet ANOTHER Nintendo system.

As stated though, there is no reason to call judgment upon a piece of hardware that has not been released to the general public yet. They can make press release after press release, but in the end, it is public opinion that counts.

Seriously, not only is Nintendo on top of the video game market right now, but Sony hasn't even pulled out anything. Plus, this thing is already getting an insane amount of support.

Given that it's different from current 3D solutions it has potential. Images on 3D TVs have a rather oily sheen to them which I dislike and I find it reduces picture quality (although it's kind of cool for sports). I would guess that the sheen is from the glasses, so the 3DS might actually have good picture quality (at least for 400x240 resolution).

I dont know if the 3DS is going to be a new triumph of a pile of shit. And honestly, I dont really care...I like 3D in cinemas, but I dont know if i want it in video-games...with or without glasses. So, Yeah...

I just don't care enough about it to be all that hyped up. Sure, it may have fancy graphics capabilities, but I haven't seen any actual games for it that appeal to me. And the fact that they are able to make a handheld that can produce better graphics than their console kinda irks me. I can't really explain why right now, but it just seems wrong to me.

Im going to end up getting it instead of a regular DS. not so much for the 3d shit, thatll be a nice bonus though, but apparently though you will be able to install your games onto the 3ds itself. will save me from haveing to carry around all those damn cartridges

Well since the 3D is entirely optional, the third party support is amazing and the power in the system is great, I'd say triumph! I have high hopes for this.

Honestly? Nope. Not at all.
I never played the originals of either, so the nostalgia isn't there for me.

I have high hopes for it. Mainly because on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, during videogame week Reggie from Nintendo came in with a 3DS, and Jimmy said it was absolutely amazing how well it works. And I trust Jimmy Fallon.

But I think the best way to market it would to have several out for the public to try at game shops, so you can actually see what you're getting into.

After taking a moment to think about it, I must admit to a bit of excitement when thinking about a 3D pokemon game. If done well, that could be quite good.

why am I the only one whos worried about the life span of the battery? the DSI had an average of 6 hours and last time nintendo said anything they were "aiming" meaning that they might only reach 4 hours or less on average

If it's giving me Metal Gear Solid 3 and Ocarina Of Time on one console (a hand held console!) then I'm happy. Plus, it's backwards compatible so Golden Sun and Pokemon Black & White will be awesome too.

Personally I haven't really latched on to the 3D fad, I actually find the whole thing rather annoying like a tired gimmick that won't go away or a joke that someone has to keep quoting every time you see them.

So really, I think it's a pile of shit but thats just because of my dislike of expensive not worth it 3D in general.
