Jesus Christ that's a depressing movie.
Its ironic how that movie constantly talks about hope and yet the tone is bleak af and by the end, I feel depressed while unsatisfied or optimistic.
Good I want Superman to suffer and feel regret, it makes me care about him more than an infallable Superman that can close Black Holes with his hands and move planets.
Go watch Superman vs The Elite. The best animated Superman movie by far and one of the best portraits of the character we had since the JLU cartoons.

Believe it or not, there are more viable characters traits than grimdark and more available motivations than being wronged as a child. Or at least I hope there are... Otherwise we should shut down all modern literature that is not about sexually repressed women and supernatural creatures desperately trying to bone them.

Watched the movie and read the comic book and yes its one of the better Superman stories.

They really don't know how to do anyone else, huh?

At this rate I'm expecting Justice League to just be a Batman film with Wonder Woman, Flash etc having a brief cameo, perhaps post credits.
To be fair, they don't really know how to do Batman either.
Because of Batman the Killing Joke and Batman v Superman

All of a sudden, they don't know how to do Batman?

As if the Animated Series and Dark Knight trilogy and other Animated Movies that wasn't the Killing Joke never happened?
Actually here's how to correct it imo. People don't know how to write everyone else because they don't get the characters and Zack Snyder doesn't understand Batman.

Hell, most iterations of Batman understood him. Even the Adam West did for the Silver Age Batman.
Like I give a shit concerning a charcater that has been re-interpreted differently for almost 100 years.

There is no True Portrayal of Batman or any heroes because they are all different from each other. And you claim to know how Batman is portrayed in all the 70+ years of his existance?

Says the guy who thinks being dark makes a story better and not embracing the goofiness of the concept is a giant sin to comics.
My point exactly, since because they are not consistant throught the decades, I want my preference shown. I don't want Superheroes to be goofy to the level of un-serious camp.

They aren't consistent because they keep changing tones, styles or writers provide different ways they want to tell stories.

Dude, you can have goofy stuff while having great storytelling. Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Young Justice comics by Peter David, Grant Morrison's work has a mix of dark and goofy, campy concepts as well. Hell, even the Adam West show handles this well.

Well, I like Batman. I'm seeing Batman, Batman and Robin, Batman and Batgirl, Batman and Egg, Batman and Sausage, Batman, Egg, Bacon and Batman, Batman, Batman, Batman, Batman, Baked Beans and Batman, and Me, Earl, and the Dead Girl and Batman.
