*shoots you in the back of the head and drags you away* I'm sorry it had to be this way, but you where sticking your nose in the wrong business, pal.

Seeing how about 8/10 posts (even on here) are no longer than a sentence or two, I'd argue the percentage is much higher.

If somebody posts "Do you like [Insert Game/Movie/Book Here]?" You can guarantee that most replies will simply be "No, it sucks/was overrated/mediocre/overhyped." or "Yes, it rocks/is the best/better than sex".

:O I thought I shoot you. I guess the jokes on me. After all, I just had to buy my gun from Dante. Worthless peashooter.

The study found that only 8.7% of messages could be said to have "value" as they passed along news of interest.
I believe this is more accurate.
So that leaves 51.3% that are neither pointless nor useful. What exactly does that mean?

Whats the point of Twitter anyway?
That would imply that Twitter has a point.
Aren't pointless updates the point of Twitter? The point is to be pointless. Did I just blow your mind?!
If the point is to be pointless, then it's contradictory.

*crack*

Congrats, you just broke the Internet.

51.3% is both pointless and useful. A man falls out of a window is funny but pointless to your average office worker but inspiration (spelling check) to a health and safety designer.

I like telling everyone I'm eating a sandwich...
I don't really care what every single person on Twitter has to say anyway, it's a simple thing with friends to me.

I think 100% of tweets are pointless babble. This brings to mind something Yahtzee said on fullyramblomatic: There is nothing more boring than any given individual's answer to the question "What are you doing RIGHT NOW?" (no offence is intended to anyone who uses Twitter)

I've twittered. I like to think I tried something different, but ultimately I think it was a waste of time. I might come back to it, but I want it to be more than just "what are you doing?" Yes, that goes against the MO that Twitter was built under, but no more than using a weblogging service to post fiction.

Twitter: Improving the wat you shout random junk into the world. I'm REALLY surprised it isn't all of it that's babble.

See I used to think Twitter was all useless babble but a lot of people in the games industry use it, and even some hollywood directors do. So it's a nice way to find out what's going on quickly. Granted, even the professionals are prone to pointless babble, but they tend to be more witty about it.
