I agree with this.Togs said:And it wouldnt be hard for it to beat Oblivion- game was heinously flawed, thank god for its modding community.
It's a bit shallow, but the faces were bad. Some of the worst in gaming.
Then there's the fact that jumping is pretty awful and often borderline useless. It looks ugly, and is not all that much of a help.
The battle system itself is awfully bland. Good luck if you like using lots of spells and strategizing with magic. Because the GUI is awful for that. Furthermore it's not a problem with the user that it is often very hard to slash the opponent instead of a comrade on the battlefield. It's just badly laid out that often makes it easier to attack your own team mates than monsters.
The NPC voice acting isn't that great in many cases. And it's stupid how people will talk to you normally right after you stole something, right before the police arrive. "Hey, that person stole my stuff! Oh, hi, what can I do for you?".
Not to mention it's far too easy to accidentally touch an item on a table instead of talk to a person, and again have the police breathing down your neck.
It's also not near as big and doesn't have near as many quests as it's hyped to have. You can walk from one side of the map to the other in a short few hours.
And that's just a few criticisms I have. Still, it looks better than a lot of stuff out of the West/wRPG area. I personally hold out that the game will be not just better, but much better than Oblivion.
By the way, though, it does irk me, how like most Western games and even marketing for non-Western games, they have a muscular guy on the cover. When part of the point of wRPGs is choice, you can be male or female. But they chose some big muscular barbarian guy as their mascot, so to speak. Makes me irritated with the market. Isn't what should be advertised, choice? You know, a variety of character design options going about the path? I thought choice was supposed to be the strong suit of the Elder Scrolls. Rubs me the wrong way.
