Anything to say about Civilization 3? I enjoy building up cities From Dust, and advancing to the modern times. I've played the one on 360, but haven't touched anything else from the series.

If you're into jrpgs, I would highly recommend Cthulu Saves The World [http://store.steampowered.com/app/107310]. It's rather fun, and is hilarious at times. It's campy as fuck, but in a good way. And is hilariously self-aware. The fourth wall is not only broken but shattered to pieces within a few seconds of starting.

I haven't played 3 specifically, but the series as a whole is one of my all time favorites. If turn based grand strategy that is neither too simplified nor too micromanagement heavy sounds good to you, it's definitely worth $5.

I've played Civilization 3 quite a lot, and have a few comments about it.

The combat can be unfair at times. I might actually remember a Spearman defeating a tank, but it's not completely broken combat. It just seems kind of random sometimes.

Increased difficulty means trying to keep your citizens happier.

Building your civilization is engaging enough to keep you playing, with research into sciences being one of the most important things. Building your cities and surrounding country-side up with roads, irrigation, mines, etc is tactically interesting.

The game is turn based, so it doesn't play the same as Age of Empires but if you've played a previous one and want to spend lots of time in a game it's alright.

Cannot argue with this. Cthulhu Saves the World is a fantastic game, old school, funny, self-aware and very functional RPG.

It wouldn't be Civ if a spearman couldn't defeat a tank with the right modifiers. In the very first Civilization, combat always ended with one stack or the other being completely destroyed, and the numbers were just modifiers that made it more likely for one stack or the other to win. With the right terrain bonuses, a veteran Phalanx was one of the scariest things you could run into, even in the end game. They added health bars in Civ II, but even then, under the right circumstances, weird things could happen.
