And I would buy that TV with the 10% failure rate if it was a really good TV that I would like, such as I love my 360.
10% failure rate in manufacturing is actually call to stop the line and do a 100% quality check

trust me, take some courses in statistical process control. i mentioned the 10% figure to my friend, who is a qa manager, and his response was "you're joking right? tell me you are kidding. someone got fired for that right?" he didn't believe me.

for a comparison, the ps3 is at about 1% failure and that's bumping the numbers up a bit. go ask someone who works at ebgames or gamestop, i know a few of the ppl that work there frequent the forum

Hm, so the real usage of an Xbox is to mail it to strangers in the hopes that they will mail it back with a few goodies for your effort.
Yes, God forbid you should try and play any games on it.

and as for the xbox ppl not knowing what they're talking about, the ppl who call in are just as bad if not worse

i had this type of call more than once

me: "unplug your router from the wall so there's no power going to it"
caller: "ok it is"
me: "ok we gotta wait 30 seconds"
caller: "ok"
me: "can you get to google?"
caller: "yes"
me: "ummmm i asked you to unplug the power cord for your router"
caller: "i did, it's that grey cable"

too many ppl think they know what they're talking about when calling support lines, few actually do, knowledge is a very dangerous thing in the wrong hands
There should be a way to shoot people like this through a phone line. I bet they were slightly less polite that as well, am i correct?

ummmm hate to burst your bubble but both apple and microsoft run on the same hardware, both are ibm chips

i have a guy at work who is on his 7th xbox, not sure why he still says it's great after being sent in 7 times

when you send in your xbox for repair they grab one off the shelf in the repair facility and send it to you, so you will probly get stuck in the loop of having to get it repaired cause the new one is busted

honestly go to places like ebgames and get their extended warranty, you can just trade your old xbox in and get a new one
It's the tech support from Microsoft that annoys me, not the hardware

i agree, see the difference between american and canadian tech support is if you start getting rude with the person, you can be hung up on, if you're dealing with americans you have to be verbally abused

i had one guy that no matter what i asked him would say "yeah" and i could barely hear him, i was like "dude speak up or i can't help you"

I'm on 360 #8.

i'd still take it over a PS3 though.
right cause having to return something 7 times cause it keeps breaking and not being able to play it for weeks at a time is better than have something that you won't have to return and can play as much as you want

same day exchange FTW.
Superior online FTW.

Maybe because want is the key word maybe he doesn't WANT to play a ps3? (I dunno I'm guessing)

On my third. First one bricked and I got sent a new one as a replacement...which also died. As a replacement to that they refurbished the console and it has been working fine for a while now...longer than the first 2 for sure, so fingers crossed.

not really.

Given the choice between the overpriced, "force technology you couldn't give a fuck about" car, the underpowered "gimmick" car or the not as reliable "does what you want it to for a decent price" car, I know what I want to go with.

That makes no sense, since the item you would go with does not do the one thing the other items do...Actually work. It's like picking a firearm that while more accurate jams easy over the firearm that may not be quite as accurate but is more dependable overall. Besides in this instance there really is no need to own any of the consoles.

And this is why, though I have a 360, I own and adore Apple products.
Man, after an experience like that, I'd have gone all Tyler Durden and try and bring about the destruction of human civilization.

Thankfully, my 360 has yet to fail on me. So, lucky me, I guess.

I've had my 360 for about, ummm, a year and a half, and just like, two weeks ago, it RROD during a Rock Band session, and So I had to send it in to the repair shop, no problems with the tech support, and the 360 works fine now, I had gotten MY console back mind you, I marked it on one of the stickers, so I could tell it was mine. It's working just fine for me, so they must have fixed the console or else it would have bricked again.

My Xbox-360 has been running fine since the begining of this year, when I got it. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Generally, people who burn through Xbox's are just hoping that the next one won't break.

He's right! Now that it's working properly, you should return it straight away, and then get rid of all the games you own for it without recognising what a waste of money that would be, rather than enjoying your now functioning product and free tech support!

my point is you should have to burn thru them, if you go thru more than one, return it and demand your full money back as it is obliviously a lemon, there are consumer laws about that kinda thing, it's just sad that people don't know about them or exercise their rights

way to miss the point on that one, thanx for that

i first had to send in my xbox for the E73 error. or in other words overheating. so i sent it in and got it repaired, just like the starting poster, hassle free. but just recently saying two days ago and no more than three months since i got my counsel back it got the three rings of death. microsoft is starting to lose my trust.
