It it should be noted that on one of those little info popups it said that he learned to drive from videogames.

I...I'm not sure what to think about this. Although one thing disturbed me.

He hated church enough to hijack his dads car, yet they would bring him anyway?

PS: I'm having a glitch where if I try to read a topic I get a popup that says "failed to open page, aborting".

Learned to drive with thumbsticks? How does that help clutch control?

Edit: Ugh. I know most American cars are automatic, that doesn't remove the point I'm trying to make. You can't learn to drive properly without the full pedals and wheel arrangement. Thumbsticks just don't cut it.

i'm more impressed that he learned to drive a vehicle from a realistic video game.

Im getting that glitch too, but only with Internet Explorer. Now I'm using Google Chrome.

OT: Im not sure if I should be impressed or frightened. The child obviously lacks discipline, I never would have thought about that as a kid.

I'm really surprised they didn't place the blame on the games, seeing as how he hijacked a car to escape from church, based on what he learned from playing games. That little kid must really hate his church.

I love how the news anchor immediately jumped to Grand Theft Auto when the officer mentioned he'd been grounded from a video game.

"We understand his father had recently grounded him from one of his video games which involves operating vehicles"
"Oh like Grand Theft Auto?"

She says GTA. I want to slap her. I honestly screamed out obscenities when she said that.

Weird, on the news they talked about this but where I am they didn't say anything about video games. But seriously they didn't have to drag games into it to be interesting.

Thats really crazy, I guess he was using a wheel when he was playing those games, but still, woah. And I really can't blame the kid for being that desperate to leave church.

Wow, his parents bring him to church, he doesn't want to go, so he hijacks a car

WTF, he should respect his parents enough to do what they want,

I didn't like church at seven, but i still went, i also did all of the other things my parents wanted me to do that i didn't want to do, sixth grade math, eating my celery, kumon, soccer, golf, tennis etc.

edit: by the way, what denomination is this kid's family? it may have said, but i didn't really pay attention

He didn't want to go to church... so he hijacked a car.

That's the funniest thing I've ever heard.

This is why the ESRB exists.
Be just a tiny bit less lazy, and a lot of these things could be avoided.
Of course, its too much to ask for a parent to actually pay attention to how their kid is spending their time...

You know the story will only get worse when it's revealed that the reason he didn't want to go to church was because the Priest that runs it touches the 7 year old in his "bathing suit area".

It didn't have to be GTA.

It could have been HALO.

Wait. If he didn't squash a dozen grunts then clip a bottle cap and roll the thing, it wasn't a Warthog.

Hey, if he couldn't reach the pedals and just put it in drive and let it go by itself, it would have done about the top speed of a Scorpion.

If I'd had a Scorpion at that age, I'd have been heading for the church ... or Radio 1's offices.
