7th Generation - A good upgrade?

Ok so we're well into the 7th generation now and i have to do a review for a uni assignment.

I wanted to know what the gamers-of-the-world feelings are on how the 7th generation has lived up to expectations and technical standards.

any thoughts would be really helpful

In my opinion technical progression has been mediocre at best, and cynical at worst. The 7th generation is probably going to be recognised as the most apparent time when big business finally crushed game innovation and progression.

Maybe I'm growing too old (born 1979), but everything in this generation is just, well... meh. There is no great gaming leaps forward, no 'wow' moments any more.

Again, maybe it's me, maybe it's EA accountants pandering to the lowest common denominator...
