In that case, why are you buying Apple at all? The iPod is a pretty MP3 player, but it lacks a lot in the features department, and I'm told that's the point. So when we get a "tablet" that's both feature limited AND unattractive, I'm having trouble with people supporting it.
I guess because to me it's not so much a 'bad tablet computer' than it is a 'sci-fi-esque datapad' which is something I've wanted to see for YEARS. Plus, a functional interface is more of what I was getting at, which is one thing that Apple is very good at.

Besides, even if I was all like ?OMG all things must be pretty lawlz!? then so what? It has a wide bezel that is a little funky and that?s supposed to be our aesthetics-breaking super flaw?

The thing's pretty weird-sized too, innit? It's too big to be portable like an Itouch, but not big enough to be truly useful like a netbook. The whole "datapad" thing is cool, but the Itouch was that but pocket-sized. It's like Homer on Springfield Gorge. Almost enough, but not quite, and the lack of a little is very painful. Any self-respecting computer has a USB port at MINIMUM. MicroSD, SD, and other ports are icing on the cake, but no USB on a computer competitor guarantees that this will be relegated to the dustbin.

It's a massive break for Microsoft, too. If they build their own tablet that corrects the major flaws (Flash, widescreen, ports, multitasking), it could be Ipod v Zune again, but with the Zune stomping the Ipod.

And while Ipods might not be the Messiah of music players, they certainly are useful and have enough support from 3rd parties to ensure stability. I foresee no such luck with the Ipad. So sayeth Swami Caboose (lol?)

Couldn't they have just made a touch-screen laptop? Wouldn't that have solved the problems all at once?

Lets make a netbook right, but loose the keyboard man! Cause the keyboard was totally the problem with the Air, not the price, lack of features or stupid size.

Yeh then make it run our mobile phone OS so its like hard to actually use as a netbook and is much harder to put a proper OS on! Cool!

Now lets make it in a weird resolution that nobody encodes there video to! And at the same time will make webpages side-scroll as well! Dude you got a Dell, fuck no sorry forgot I got fired from them, Man you got a Mac!

I wonder if you can use two of them as an uncomfortable padded bra...

I thought it was going to be named the "islate" aw well. It seems like a good idea I mean if it were an actual "imac" in a slate form not a XL size of a Ipod touch. But like everything else technological I'll wait a while for the price to go down, some bugs to be fixed and better versions to come out and maybe i'll get one (but don't count on it).

In fact i'll just get a netbook.

I just saw a news ... thing ... about it. Another thing I noticed about it is the lack of a point. I don't see the point in owning one. Every other i-thing does something useful [unless of course you own an iphone in which case the other i-things are beneath you] but I can't see why this thing even needs to exist

I was kind of interested when they said 'tablet' because I thought it was like a drawing tablet or something.

I was mistaken.

Well, here's my take on this:

Big, Ugly Bezel

Don't really care, I'll take funtionalty over pretty any day.

No Multitasking

Alright, this one does kind of suck I do admit.

No Cameras

This doesn't bother me either.

Touch Keyboard

And here we have the major beef I have with ALL keyboard-less devices. I said in another thread what I'd do is have some sort of little stand you can set it on along with a wireless mouse-n-keyboard that it'll autosync up with when near them. I fully expect that I'm not the only person with this idea so sooner or later we'll probably see a third party accessory that will fill this need.

No HDMI Out

Don't care again, if I want to watch HD videos on an HD tv then I'll hook up a computer.

Oh wait, that's right. I've NEVER done that and don't intend to start.

The Name iPad

Yeah, the name is kind of lame. I actually have made the iMaxi-Pad joke already elsewhere. But just like the Wii, if it catches on we won't be laughing come a year or two from now.

No Flash

And here's the first thing that might be a deal breaker to me. That is pretty god damned annoying.

Adapters, Adapters, Adapters

Meh, the only thing I will miss is USB, and as long as someone makes a little dongle that has one or two on it that doesn't stick out too much then I won't worry about it really.

Update: Why stop at 8? Here are more things we are discovering that suck about the iPad.

It's Not Widescreen

Meh.

Doesn't Support T-Mobile 3G

I can only see myself using Wi-Fi anyway, so boo hoo here.

A Closed App Ecosystem

This kind of sucks also, but I'm sure there are ways around it...

...

So, minor annoyances and only a couple things that MIGHT make me hate it, and even then they are fixable. Why did I waste my time here? Because different people will expect different things from a device like this and will likely not care about most of these things.

Also, it's only been out for one day and very few people have even touched one but we're already bitching about it?

Really?
I agree with you on most grounds here. If I want something to look good, I'd rather buy art, I buy for functionality, not looks.

No camera? I always prefer using a dedicated camera rather than something with a camera attached, seriously, phones and mp3 players usually got terrible cameras despite the fact that some brag about having 10 megapixel.

There's no HDMI out... well... do I care? I don't really see the difference on HD and normal quality, and I usually just use my DVD player and an USB anyway.

Not widescreen and it all looks crap? Uhm, I might be the only one, but I have never thought of widescreen as an improvement, when I grew up the TVs weren't widescreen and we had a full picture, now that I live in a house with 2 widescreen TVs (one LCD) I can't see the improvement. I usually just see really fat people when it's set to widescreen format.

The lack of flash is annoying, and you should expect to get that thinking of the prices Apple charge for their stuff.

I wont buy this, not because I hate Apple because hey make another crappy product, I just don't want to pay for a logo.
