So I just saw this article on Yahoo! that shows the 9 signs that your boyfriend is a keeper.

http://dating.personals.yahoo.com/singles/datingtips/88524/dating-tips-9-signs-a-guy-is-a-keeper/

And I just thought, what the fuck?

Now, some of these "signs" sound pretty legit, like "His Act is Together" or "He Remembers the Little Things" but the rest seem wierd. Its like the person who wrote this is just listing the characteristics of a non existing fantasy boyfriend. I don't know anyone who is like what they listed.

The rest of their signs sound like the guy is either a little too clingy or a fucking stalker.

"When your guy calls your mom to tell her about your promotion before you do" Thats just creepy. Why would anyone do that? Its their family, let them do their own shit.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Personally, these articles on relationships are all the same and they always list a fantasy boyfriend that will never exist.

It is creepy. I'm a woman and I wouldn't want my boyfriend to call my mom. That seems strange.

I dont think its a fantasy boyfriend, rather a man who does everything for the woman and doesnt ask for anything in return, If you in a relationship like this, demand some Equal treatment

I'd agree with most of the points there but the "When your guy calls your mom to tell her about your promotion before you do" qoute is just creepy.

Yahoo has no f'ing clue what they're talking about in half of these Top Whatever articles.

The ones I've heard are filled with stupidity or stuff that's common sense.

Yes, men. Do all these things, and your girlfriend will stay with you forever. Too bad you'll be a rotting husk of what you once were.

Sorry, but I'm not into the whole giving up the best piece of meat and going to see movies I dislike all the time. I'll do it every now and then, sure. But fuck you if you expect me to see a Nicholas Sparks movie every weekend. And anyone who wants someone like that is just plain evil.

I officially declare this article to be shit.

Well, it would show that your committed to the female and get along with her family really really well and are completely comfortable around them enough to treat them like your own parents. Yeah, why on earth would a girl like that?

Man, I'm surly and sarcastic today. Maybe, I just took offense to the fact that I do call my soon-to-be mother in law on the phone sometimes.

Really? I do all nine of those for my wife.
I don't think they are unrealistic or anything.

Pretty sure this is aimed at mid 20's people who are serious about dating and maybe wanting to settle down. Not kids.

I read it and thought, "yeah, these are all reasonable things." All of them I'd expect her to do the same back for me too and she does.

Maybe it should be 'signs that you're relationship is mature, serious, committed, and healthy'?

I think the list is fine. I do them all for the right person.

I think some of you guys just feel guilty because you don't measure up.

It really doesn't apply to all relationships, but I would say that most of the items on the list are pretty accurate. Remember, in the grand scheme of human (or many species for that matter) procreation, the female gets to be the selective one.

All those lists are fantasy things really, its probably written by one person and as such their view of reality is different to other peoples.

Like if I list the things that make me do an impromptu medley with 15 backing dancers in public it will be different to your list of things that would make you do an impromptu medley with 15 backing dancers in public.
