Video games don't kill people... Halo does.
On a more serious note. There is no way in hell that a kid could get the idea of suicide from a video game, not in that way... anyway...
I think the parents are to blame. they must have real issues.

So games made the kid lock himself in a bathroom to hang himself?
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Exactly. Even in the old days when computer games were not created, there were still suicides, arguments and violence. Infact, more vicious crimes such as Acid baths were in those days. Im waiting for someone to try saying Hitler used games to come up with the Holocaust idea, of which is impossible.

GTA made the noose and Halo opened and locked the door.
An Eyewitness had this to say: "I saw two video-game cases pull this kid into the bathroom and I was shocked"

Police are now on the search for these two criminals:
They are very dangerous and if you know of their whereabouts please contact the police.
and Viva Pinata was their get away driver and is currently hiding them in its garden.

or... I don't know... the kid who hung himself?

If you actually watched the video, she barely goes into violent video games. She really talked about family, childhood depression and possible abuse. However, I do agree that playing the "Blame Game" on video games is a bit, dare I say, ignorant? Why can't things just be the people in someone's life? I'd imagine that there was something going on this his home/school life that pushed him a bit. Maybe he was ignore a lot or looked over. Hell, kids are mean as fu- man. Someone could've told him, "No on likes you. You're better off dead." on a regular basis. After awhile, that shit gets to you. Especially for a small child. Having a positive upbringing that promotes high self-esteem and self-awareness can be detrimental to anyone. Maybe he did have a chemical imbalance. Maybe he was abused. But that's all speculation. We won't know what really happened because they're only telling the family what brought this child to want to end his life.

I do feel terrible for the nurse though. I think I might hafta retire or something after knowing that a child killed themself under my watch and care.

His father molesting him was completely unrelated of course.

Honestly, why would a kid be playing violent video games? Did his parents go out and buy him M rated content? If so then they have nobody to blame but themselves for the exposure, it's the same as going out and buying your nine year old 18+ moves.

Wow. Where did he get his fucking doctor degree from? A hobo? Seriously, how about looking in his school environment to see the shit this kid has to put up with for once?

Where can I buy the game that you hang yourself in, sounds awesome?

There's always some reason or this shit, but it's never "he was unhappy with something in his life...". Things like friends, family, something extremely bad happening in his past, or a recently series of bad luck.... People don't kill themselves because they've seen it on tv or played games where you kill people, they do it because they're unhappy, maybe have mental issues (like depression), or get stressed to breaking point. I don't care what some ***** with no evidence of anything says, tbh, it's just another way for the media to pretend to care while running the agenda of all the mums who want TV and games and the internet to raise their kids.

people always want to point the finger at someone or something else other than themselves.

when the columbine incident happened they had blamed Maralin Manson because of his music for corrupting them when it was just the retardation of the two teens.

it is never the person's own fault it is alwyas something else.

So a nine year old kid enters a nurses restroom with a rope, somehow learned to knot a sling, attaches it on the ceiling somehow(how tall can a nine year old be? did he bring a ladder? did he climb to the top? where did he put the rope? a lamp, maybe? wouldn't it break?) and kills himself for no apparrent reason?
Is it just me, or does this sound slightly unbelievable?

Strange, I often play video games to stop myself from having suicidal thoughts. Once again, pointless assertions from people who know fuck all about video games.
What that kid needed was a Tim Schafer game, or maybe Ratchet and Clank.

How are the video games even linked to the boy's actions? Just because he played them? Unless every young person who has killed themselves recently played video games also, I really don't even begin to see the correlation between the two. And even if there is correlation, correlation does not automatically equal causation. That's pyshcology 101.

What you don't get is that people need scapegoats for their problems. They NEED a punching bag to blame without taking responsibility or admitting the cause is something that is no one's fault. It works for genocides right? No?

Then stop scapegoating...

I like how she outright says "we don't want to blame the family."

So it seems we've moved beyond blaming videogames into outright exonerating any other possible effects outright.
Yeah, apparently its the norm to blame a bunch of flashy images on a screen over the people
that are supposed to be taking care of this kid.....

What a sad day we live in.

Right, because bullying and/or his parents not caring about him TOTALLY WASN'T A FACTOR.

Also the kids would be watching less of the adult TV shows if you'd give us back cartoons like Popeye and Freakazoid instead of bullshit like Dora the Explorer and Sponge Bob.
Really? Dora and Spongebob are bullshit? Gee, I thought they were shows that were attempting to make children learn and laugh respectively! Boy, you sure proved me wrong!

Does everything have to be violent with you people?
When they treat 8-12 year old kids (the intended age group) like retarded 5 year olds, they are very much bullshit.
I'm sorry you feel that way. Oh, and the intended age group for Dora is NOT 8-12.

I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

In all seriousness, I'm surprised the people would jump to such conclusions as violent video games.

For crying out loud I've been playing violent games since I was 12, and I'm fine.

It's just that some kids are more impressionable than others.
Thank you! God damn, I picked up the controller for Resident Evil (1996) and Dino Crisis (1999) when they first came out. I was obviously younger then, mind you, and I don't have problems.

I'd love to see America (or any other country) blame this on video games if the graphics and games were still that of the Atari. OH DEAR GOD! That dot just...killed, I think...THAT OTHER DOT! Wait...wait the dot is um...it's...a dot.

My prayers do go out for the kid though. No one should commit suicide so young...no one should even contemplate it.

look, it's about time that the media stopped trying to blame things on video games. if someone kills themselves, maybe they are depressed, and if the go out and kill other people they probably have a mental condition, these so- called 'scientists' seem to think that there was no crime before videogames.
