9 year old rapes 6 year old

Greetings fellow escapists. Today I was visiting Sankaku complex, my stop for all the crazy news for the day, when I came across a disturbing story. A 9 year old boy had raped a 6 year old girl in India. the make matters even worse, the police could just lock him up for a day and then just gave him back to his parents.

So, my question to you is, what would you give as punishment to this boy? Locking him in jail at a young age wouldn't help at all, but to just let him go seems retarded. Why was he even interested in sex at such a young age?

Lock him in jail for the rest of his life, maybe? Make sure he can't get out ever, a full life sentence.
I think all rapists and murders and such should just stay in jail for the literal rest of their life (not getting out in twenty years time) or should get some form of death penalty. If their willing to destroy someone else's life, why should they have a life themselves?

He's just a kid; he probably didn't even know what he was doing or how bad it was.

I wrote that before actually clicking on the source and realizing that he had beat her; that makes things sound much less innocent. Now I am indeed wondering where the hell a 9-year-old got the idea to violently rape someone.

Why would he actually be interested in sex at such a young age? I think he must have seen it somewhere else, so counseling would be in order. Even if he didn't, when you're 9, there's still a lot of room for rehabilitation. Don't go screaming death penalty yet.
