He's not actually going to jail you know. They don't send 91 year olds to prison, thats stupid.
Also for being an accessory to 32,000 murders, 5 years is very light.

And he's been tried and exonerated before. They are basically holding him responsible for his crimes.

That article was damned hard to read. What I pieced together is that he was forced? to do such things which is pretty damn sad. So I doubt he wanted to do any of the things unlike, y'know, Nazis. He may even get haunted by the memories of it >.>

Bottom Line:I can't really put a verdict on this however I feel that because he's 91 he shouldn't be jailed.

First off I sincerely doubt he was forced to do anything. I would recommend the book "The Devil's Guard" which was written by a former SS officer, he says that while not all SS really believed in the party line, but that everyone who worked in the camps did so because they wanted to.
Secondly, while I don't think this guy has much time left, age should not be a mitigating factor for sentencing. I mean at what point do we excuse someone simply because of their age? 80? 70? 50?
For those claiming live and let live: when do you want the statute of limitations for murder to be set? 10 years? 20?
As a final note 5 years is absurdly low, it works out to about 94 minutes in jail per murder, I mean really at that point why even bother punishing a man who murders his wife, after all his jail time should only be 94 minutes why bother with a trial.

This guy committed a crime, was found guilty in a court of law, and was sentenced by a judge. How long ago the crime took place doesn't matter, it was still judged to have occurred.

This is called justice.

Hmm, well I read through the case just then and it seems like a bit of an iffy one for a few reasons.

- The courts weren't sure if some of the evidence was legitimate - In any other case the charges would be dropped.

- The man claims to have been a PoW and was given the choice of death or servitude as a guard - Could you really say you'd do differently, I imagine I would do the same thing, I don't particularly want to die. (Though I don't really know how I would react if I were in his shoes)

- The man appears to be on his last legs and sending him to prison seems like a waste of money - Self explanatory really.

Now, don't get me wrong, im all for making people accountable for their crimes but this just doesn't seem right to me.
