In Sweden, it's 112.
However! If you call 911, you'll be redirected to the emergency center anyways.
Exactly same here in Finland. The emergency number is 112, but if you dial 911 it directs it back to 112. Incidentally, my birthday is 11.02.
Happy birthday =D

er.... is your b-day november 2nd? (american 11.02.) or February 11th?

Because if the latter, I rescind all good birthday tidings! But you can keep the regular good tidings :)

I was tempted to ask the same thing, but figured it was Feb 11 because there wasn't the usual internet poster (Happy Birthday to Me!!!) following the date. lol

Of course 911 is not the emergency number outside the US. In Britain, for instance, it is 0118-999-881-999-119-7253. ;)
Thank you for making that joke.

Haha, it's February 2nd. I used the Finnish method of labeling dates. But hey, thanks regardless!

112 is the GSM standard emergency number - you should be able to dial it on any mobile/cell in the world (I assume it works for CDMA as well) and get emergency response. My host in the states (city fire chief) was quite surprised when he tried it and it worked.

Edit: Australian, btw.

it WAS 119 in Korea, but im not sure if it still is.

i know in the US that if you dial 9 and then hang up the phone twice, itll dial to the police. Found that out the hard way when the police showed up at the door 5 minutes later making sure everything was ok.

on another note, you can still dial 911 on a phone that has no plan attached to it. That way no matter where the phone is from, you can still dial out for an emergency.
