Alright I have a little story.
A friend (Not IRL) of mine on another forum said that his parents took away his computer for 2 weeks+ due to getting bad grades. Later that day he said posted saying he had been considering suicide lately.
Many members were upset of course and expressed their concerns fully. About 2 days later 3 forum members talked to him over Skype and one convinced him to trust him with his mobile phone number. The forum member got his GPS location via the phone number and proceeded to call the police which he told all information that he knew. The police then came to his house and took him into intensive care.
I want to know what you guys think about him getting the authorities involved.
Edit: He's been depressed for a while.
Fuck no, don't call the cops on a kid you don't know just because he "has been considering" suicide lately.
If he was actually, seriously talking about doing it right now or today, then sure, go ahead and phone authorities. Otherwise, try and talk to him personally. Passing the buck off to authorities when there might not even be a problem shows some pretty deep cowardice.
Doing this kind of thing, I just see it causing far more problems for the typical depressed teen (most get better within a few years).
I've seriously considered suicide before, I really thought I was going to do it, but damn I'm glad that I kept it inside so I didn't get some crazy guy tracking me and forcing me to "get help."
