Why alienate metal? If you don't like it it doesn't mean that the rest of the people can't name their beloved underdogs. And that's coming from someone who doesn't really like metal very much.

Anyway, I think it shouldn't be limited to bands, so I'll say Emma Shapplin. She's one of my top 5 sopranos ever, and her gregorian choir is amazing. Every fits so perfectly into her songs. I would have said Sarah Brightman but she's got a lot more publicity than Emma.

I have to sya both the Black Keys, The devil makes three, and why no metal bands allowed I mena fdo you jsut not like metal and if so why dismiss an entire genre mena there is so a large vartiy of metal be sides just death metal

Schubert is surprisingly unappreciated I think. His symphonies display a melodic brilliance that isn't present in other composers such as Beethoven or Mozart. They're simple yes, but easier to listen to than others when you have to concentrate to catch the nuances and subtle variations which makes them so brilliant.

I don't appreciate them because I don't think they're a form of music just like rap.

Explosions in the Sky is one of the few Alternative bands I really like; their stuff is quite beautiful.

Nox Arcana is a Gothic Classical Rock band that has done some really intense music.

believe it or not, in my school Radiohead is very under-appreciated, it's so good, but not a lot of people like them.
