A better MMO subscription model

Here's my brilliant idea for an MMO subscription model that is both better than 15 dollars a month and Free2Play + micropayments. Tell me what you think.

15 dollars buys the player one month of unlimited play -or- 20 hours of playtime. Whichever is the the bigger number. So a hardcore player can pay his 15 bucks and play 100 hours a month and the next month he pays another 15 bucks and plays another 100 hours. But, say he only has time to play 5 hours the next month, well no biggie, the 15 remaining hours roll over into the next month so he won't have to pay for that month until his 15 hours from the last month are over.

It's also great for less hardcore gamers, who might only want to play their MMO for 100 hours a year. Now instead of paying 180 a year, he would only have to pay 60 bucks a year.

This is better for the consumer (obviously) but also the developer, because now consumers who didn't want to pay because they feared they wouldn't play enough that month to make it worth it, would now be paying customers.

Also I would love it if me and my wife could play different WoW characters on the same account at the same time. I can only afford one account, but we would love to be able to play with each other.

Seems like a pretty solid plan, i bet some people could find away past the whole roll over hours deal so they didnt have to pay as much? Why not just have a maximum rate for people who pay all the time and a few lower rates for people who fits certain time played slots?

A cheaper package with less character slots would work well also. Although, I prefer F2P because I don't have a lot of money right now and I can continue playing anyways.

Guild Wars style.
You buy the game for slightly more than the usual Pay-to-play, and then you play free for life.
Seriously, it works so much better.

Something like:
15 bucks a month = unlimited play
7 bucks a month = 30 hours or less

I don't like that as much because people in the 7 bucks category still have some obligation to play, where they wouldn't have any obligation to play in my model. This is still a big improvement over what exists now.

The incentive for the developer isn't really there. Why would a Blizzard type want to switch to this model?

This has the same the same problem as the guild wars model.

I'm not saying that any of the huge companies are ever really gonna do this, I'm just saying it's probably the best possible model I could think of.

Yeah Crazzee I realize it will probably never happen because Blizzard make more money doing it the way they do and hence have no reason to change it really. I was just saying what I would LIKE to see...which is kind of what the thread is about.

^That would be nice, but I think my model has the opportunity to make blizzard even more money as well as being good for the players. In a perfect world, all MMO's would be Guild Wars style.
