Oh, I remember that (if I'm thinking of the same game).

What I really liked about that was that you could predict quite a few of the moves the AI would make...if there was a correct move to make, you could be sure it'd make it.

I still play these games from time to time, especially the latter.
Ooh, good one. I forgot Star Control 2.

When I grow up, I want to be a Spathi.

Tons ... Good to see shout outs to Ultima in thread already. Star Control 2- Ur-Quan Masters definately needs a mention (its also open source now!). Warlords 2, Oregon Trail, Darklands, and Ascendancy are also games that have held up well over the years.

Edit: Doh! saw the Starcon2 shouts after posting

I've always wanted an Arilou ship. I once killed a Chmmr with one :D
It only had 3 health and I survived with just the captain, but that is irrelevant.

Pfft. The Arilou think they're so fancy. I'll stick with my tinker toy Spathi and butt-missiles. Abject cowardice is always the best policy in war.

You can't get more cowardly than warping into Quasi-Space in the middle of a battle! ;)

Definitely Baldur's Gate 1/2. I still use BGtutu to play through the entire series sometimes.

"Scavenger here! I'm on it!" - I always loved that line :p

And up until *very* recently, the soundtracks for Battlezone and its expansion Red Odyssey were the only game music compilations I owned. They are *awesome,* very reminiscent of John Williams' big symphonic scores for Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, etc.

Also, the whole Baldur's Gate saga and Planescape, and if I can verge close to the current gen, I still pop in the XBox Ninja Gaiden Black once a year....

I must admit I still have "Star Trek: Bridge Commander" installed. Its a PC game from 2002 that has more mods for it than a Honda Civic. (http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/) Its enjoyable, kills time, and if you download the right mods you can practically play a whole new game.

One of them would have to be Teenage Mutant Ninja(actually "Hero") Turtles IV: Turtles in Time.

I've replayed that with a friend and my older brother soooo many times. And the music is Fantastic.

Total Annihilation; still one of the best RTSes ever made in my opinion. I have the disk box right here and although it may not run on my current rig, I keep it anyway, because one day...

A lot of people know about Hexen, it's on Steam, it had an official Prima guide, it was developed by Raven and published by id. I don't know how I'd be the first person you've ever met outside your family to know about.

But regardless, AWESOME, MAN!

Well it seems a lot of people I know never had an n64 or never really played lots of games other than the main nintendo games for it.
Also, it's on steam? Guess I'll need to check that out

Nethack is also pretty entertaining despite being around the same age as I am. Fun game to play in little snippets at a time, despite having grown up playing this game (My father had it on his work computer when I was a wee lil' thing) never have beaten it.
I know what you mean. I played it off and on for ten years before finally beating the damn thing.

Mine would be NetHack, and also Nelda Nockbladder's Anatomy Lesson. I loved that game so much; it was the weirdest goddamn game ever made. And now I can never play it again.
