See, this is the problem. For security reasons Blizzard isn't releasing what it verifies, let alone how it verifies it. So while it provides an extra layer of security (the whole "information is power" thing), it unfortunately has the side effect of people making paranoid assumptions of how it works. This leads to paranoid assumptions of what can go wrong with the system that they have no real idea about, which in turn leads to the doom and gloom messages of "Blizzard's giving your information out to hackers!!" and other such crap. Gives me a headache.

The standard rules apply though. If you pay attention to account security, then you'll be fine. If you're a bleeding idiot about it though, then you'll have problems. It's not a failure of Blizzard that people's accounts keep being compromised, it's the fault of the people who keep leaving their systems open.

Just to point out about authenticators, you can download an iphone or Android app version for free. Nice to see another Blizz fan too ;)
