Woohoo! New name for my Machinima reviews, if you would, please comment on what you think of the name I selected.
This is going to be a 3 part series so that way I can review all 3 types of RVB out there. So now I present to you, Bloody's Thoughts on:

"Soooo, why don't we just shoot each other now?"
"Picture pose."
"Oh."

Red Vs Blue was created by the awesome people of RoosterTeeth Productions, and from its inception it's a smash hit. Why? There are so many reasons why. It's hilarious. Almost every episode has a classic one liner. The story is awesome, not just strung together threads hoping to make sense. But honest to goodness story. And it does something that 99% of all comedies can't, makes their story, and their universe seem epic. Not to mention how original it was. Up the point when RVB was made we hadn't seen anything like it.

It has wonderful character development where each character is well thought out and rounded greatly. almost perfectly, if not a little tiny bit dysfunctional, and even though the show isn't based in reality, I think the reason it was so successful, like many other Machinimas since then, is that everyone can relate to at least one of the characters. Or just relate someone else to that character. It feels great to say, "Hey! I think I acted like that once!" Or, "Hey! I know someone who acts exactly like that!". Whether it's the asshole Church, the sex crazed pervert, kind of deviant Tucker, the a different Doc, the idiot red leader Sarge, the shameless suck up Simmons, the lay about Griff, the obliviously gay Donut, the Spanish speaking robot named Lopez, Paris Hilton....um....I mean Sister, the perpetual girl followed around by a bunch of dumbass males Tex, the scheming evil virus that wants to rule the world Om-ally, or the lovable retard Caboose.
Not to mention the string of support charcters, Wyoming, Gary, crunch bite, Vick, and that gross little abomination that is Tuckers Child. What really gets you hooked to most of the support characters though, is that they all string along into the plot some how. Like,
When Vick near the end of the series. He turns out to be working for both teams so he is deemed evil by both Red team and Blue team.
so the support characters all somehow become main characters. Good work on that one RoosterTeeth!
The videos really says it all, about how funny they are.

The Film editing was masterful for it's time, considering it was about 8 years ago. Maybe 9, and RoosterTeeth didn't have the benefits of some of the technology we have today. I never ever wanted to call RVB a Machinima even though it is. But it is important to remember that it was the first. It was Machinima, before Machinima. All the great ones that have come since, might not have been if it wasn't for RVB. It is the E-ching or however you say it, the Godfather of Machinima.
FINAL RULING!
RoosterTeeth were truly, trailblazers in this area and should be commended for creating this great series. So needless to say, RVB is one of the greatest Machinimas of all time to the many, but to me, it is the greatest Machinima of all time.

Wasn't it the guys taht created this the ones that actually coined it "machinima"? I thought it was their entire concept for creating this series is what made machinima an actual program.

Been watching RvB since the the very first season. Love the show, even though I dont play Halo anymore.

You do realize they are still making seasons right? They are starting on season 8 on Thursday.

Church was always my favorite, with his raging dialogue.

"He's. Not. PREGANANT!"

"There is no eleven you FUCKING WHORE!"

"I will STAB YOU COMPUTER PHONE LADY!"

You forgot to mention that season 1 addressed the problems that people were having when they first played the game. Accidental friendly fire, "You killed Church you team killing f#%$-tard!"; impossible to drive vehicles, "Why are there 6 pedals when there's only 4 directions?"; instant game breakage when a tank shows up, "Taaaank! Retreat!"; and the ultimate question of why in the universe there's 2 bases in an impassable box canyon.

Edit: oh yeah, liked the clever little pun in the title.

I love RvB, Caboose is awesome. "Or maybe its a key all the time and when you stick it in people it unlocks their death." They have so many hilarious lines in it.

While I'd love to comment on your review, one thing strikes me. You write an entire review about a Halo machinima WITHOUT EVER MENTIONING HALO. Sorry, that just struck me as rather odd.

I do love this series, though.

The team had a pretty sweet cameo in Halo 3
I found it totally by accident and it was a great gem on an otherwise boring level.

I find it interesting how RvB just started out with really little to no story really. There were gags tied to a loose "Red guys against blue guys in a boxed canyon" story, but then as it continued on into more seasons bigger and epic(er) stories evolved around already existing events. One complaint I always had in the original season (or maybe it was the second season this started) was when they kinda whored out certain characters for jokes. I'm talking how Doughnut was just a new guy and then involved into a raging homosexual, (does he know he's gay or is he in denial? I never figured that out). I mean, there's nothing wrong with him being gay, it adds to all the more outrageously funny situations they get into. But if you go back and watch the first few episodes with him in it, it's a totally different character.

RvB is still the best Machinima out there, with their newest seasons and series only proving they are still the kings of it. They've also gotten a lot better at panning out characters before hand, so my complaint is ancient history really.

Their editing has gotten a lot tighter in recent series. The first two seasons had episodes that just rambled on incoherently, and only clicked if you watched the series as a whole.

In the more recent Resurrection Trilogy, the episodes are much more story oriented, but not at the expense of the humor.
