A bone-chilling scream.

A throat-tearing scream explodes from the floor, chilling your blood. Your companion, the unfortunate who triggered the trap, glances around wildly. Eyes bright in the dark, breath coming in short gasps, he sprints to the south, disappearing into the all-consuming dark in the crypts.
Low, hungry moans answer the dying scream from the trap, coming from the north and south.

Hi! So, I've been running a Dungeons and Dragons campaign for a bit now, and my party of adventurers has now chosen to delve into a terrible crypt - ostensibly to search for a Priest of Orcus gone to ground. However, the leader is.. well, less than chivalrous, and seeks to find an artifact in the chambers below.

The Trap they've triggered is a Terror Rune, tucked into one of the narrow passages. However, I'm not all that great at blood-curdling screams, and given that it's Halloween.. well, I want to give them a bit of a scare. So I've been searching for the perfect little sound byte to convey they utter, pants-shitting terror that scream is made of.

So, do any of you happen to have such a clip?
While we're at it, I've set them to encounter some lesser undead in this first part - Rotters, basic zombies, and the like. But a lot of them, and strong ones, given Orcus' influence. Nothing they can't handle. Anyone have a couple ideas for a few nasty (But survivable, mind) beasties or hazards to throw at them?
It's a Four-man party so far. Elf Ranger, Goliath Warden, Gnome Psion ( The mage here ) and a Barbarian Razorclaw Shifter. There's a human paladin too, but he's currently praying himself into starvation at a temple, since he has thus far neglected to return after the first few games.

So.. questions?
Comments?
Rude Remarks?
Obscene Gestures?

This would do the trick, and you could probably cut it down to just what you needed with a tool to extract it from Youtube:

I've never had the opportunity to sit down and actually play some D&D to make accurate recommendations for characters, but you could also include some human or non-undead characters that have hidden out in the crypt, maybe an injured, strong, non-human character that took refuge in the crypt and could be available if the party goes a certain route...

Just some ideas... I've always love tabletop RPGs... Miss playing the Star Wars RPG.

Heheh, Wilhelm scream. Priceless. And tempting, too.

That one's excellent, l0cked. I'd need to lengthen it somehow, though. The actual scream is a bit short for it.
I might be able to swing something like that - There's a town nearby. Might even be able to make a quest out of it. There's only the one entrance, so we shall see.. yea. I think I might.
Would give them a chance for some loot, too. Zombies don't tend to carry many goodies.

No need for that, Dr. Kay. If you care to remember, this is a gaming forum.
For gaming.

Like this.

Not trolling random threads.

Anyone else got anything interesting?

Another idea... you could take the crypt scenario and make their quest end at a door/portal/etc. that requires them to double back, procure an item/key/etc. and then have them make their way back. It can be sneaky, and persons can get mad, but then as the DM you are supposed to mix it up, keep it interesting and help the group mature. This could be one of those type of quests where you decide how far you are going to level or how much loot you are going to give to then have to conquer a not-so-easy boss at the end. You could even have the whole door scenario be a one or the other, with the possibility of the group entering and getting their butts kicked when they should have gone back and continued searching.

I'd recommend these little "delights" from Half-Life.

Ok, they aren't as much screams as they are distorted wails of the damned but it works for me!

As a fallback, you could always go with a scream from the Banshees in Mass Effect 3, they creeped me out a little the first time I heard them

here's a link I don't know how to embed videos

I'm not sure how you'd go about getting the soundbyte from it but you could use the Scary Maze game.

Heh this reminds me of the time I was running Paranoia. The "team" suddenly had to race against time due to explosive reasons..... and I popped a big countdown clock on a computer screen in the room.

Then halfway through the countdown there was suddenly an alarm to which end I had one of those airhorns under the table that I kept pressing in bursts while still running the game.

Everybody died. This is not unusual for Paranoia. They still had a few clones left to pick through the remains.

Paranoia? I'm going to be looking that up. Sounds like fun. I'm assuming it's Future-tech ?

I think I have it. Thanks, everyone!
