that guy is stupid.
kind of so stupid he's funny in an Anita Sarkeezian sort of way.

I mean... he was wrong his first statement was just stupid. implying a soldier is genetically superior because his eyes are blue is fucking creepy... it is...

and trying to say changing link's gender doesn't matter because no one cares is also pretty fucking dumb.

That's the only video of his I've seen so he might just have an irrational hatred of Bob Chipman. And seeing as how he's kind of doing similar things in the vein of talking about stuff on the internet I can see how he could be jealous of Bob's success and therefore hate him.

But it's safe to assume that he's just a fucking idiot.

EDIT!

so I just watched a couple more of this guys videos and he seems to pride himself on being just a little bit smarter than Anita Sarkeezian, 'cause the first few vids on his channel are of him demonstrating that he is indeed just slightly smarter than Anita. and he does have an irrational hatred of Movie Bob

I think that this video was really..... single-minded I guess is the term. After the initial, "Bob called Bungie racist and is stupid." argument he just kinda deconstructed his one Big Picture about a female Link. He frequently pointed out that Bob was dumb for assuming Link was a girl but Bob said that he was addressing the rumors that came out after the release of the video that Link was a girl, which is kinda stupid.

But while I don't really think that the person who made the video is right, I do generally disagree with Bob's slightly over-progressive ways. I think that he makes that very tumblr feminist mistake of viewing women as a superior species who should be worshiped. But personally, I kinda view them as people, so while I think that games should have more female characters, I don't think they should trip over themselves to be progressive for progressiveness sake.

No words can describe how perplexed I am.
Completely off-topic to the thread, as after reading what people said about the video I don't think I could handle that level of concentrated stupid nor will I try to, but the shilly-shally captcha comes from the movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. I think it was Tifa who said it.

Well that was a needlessly antagonistic critique with more grandstanding then substance, honestly I'd twist his reasoning and say he should take a look at how he does his own videos.
If I were to say make a video where I comment on the speed at which MB talks during his video, point out that I understand the benefits such as increased content and more individuality but at the same time point out it negatively impacts my enjoyment of the video then MB might change that aspect of his show, or hell maybe he'd open up a dialog where the subject is discussed.

I readily admit I'm not a big fan of MB, honestly it all comes down to personal tastes (I tend to like the movies he dislikes and vice versa). I think the Youtuber kindof shot himself in the foot by picking the topic he did, then again I may be a bit biased since I completely agreed with MB on the subject of Link switching sex.

If there was a critique in those 6 1/2 minutes, I couldn't find it. That youtuber pretty much attacked things on a very superficial level, including going after the fact that Bob is overweight. What few valid comments he made was lost in his misrepresentation of Bob and his videos, seeing as he focused on single comments and then a single video. That being said, Bob is nowhere near above criticism, I don't agree with some of the things he's said, especially about video games.

I frequently watch Bob Chipman and Jim sterling.
And I disagree with them almost as much as I watch them; however I watch it for entertainment purposes which is why much of this website exists, for entertainment. So yes this youtuber is correct, yet I find Bob more entertaining which is why I watch him and not John Conquest in my spare time.

Gonna agree with everyone else and say the video is stupid but I still think Bob deserves criticism. Movies and comics are his strong point but when he talks about video games it becomes painful to watch.

I agreed with the spirit and I mildly enjoyed the obviously exaggerated, sardonic-with-an-intent-to-entertain delivery. Call me immature.

I also never watched Bob Chipman's stuff, but from what I gather from this video and from lurking on the forums here, they probably aren't my thing.

It was said by Aerith during some sort of near-death experience vision Cloud had. The whole thing was "Dilly-Dally, Shilly-Shally."

This guys is a colossal idiot. Why on earth do you follow his channel?
I think the reason I subscribed to his channel was because of his older videos. But I think I'm feeling the same sentiment as everyone here that the video lacked evidence to why he thought Bob was stupid and only attacking attacking him at a superficial level. I myself kinda of like listening to MB and sometimes I don't agree with his points most of the time i.e. his recent Michael Bay video defending him.

To each their own really.
While I think view that video to be dismissive but that doesn't mean I will defence Bob. There are plenty of times when I disagree with him (anyone remember that video he made that he think PC are dying and I was annoyed to death over his butthurt over The Expendable being more successful than Scott Pilgrim?).

I actually quite like the stuff Bob Chipman does but I think there are some valid criticisms to be made of him. That video was absolutely lousy though. I mean it's just Bob says he thinks this, Youtuber says he thinks it's not therefore Bob must be a moron. It only appeals to people who want to feel vindicated about thinking the same thing already.

Eh... I feel bad for wasting my time watching that and that I gave that guy a view...

After all, can you really say that any of the Mario games or The Legend of Zelda have ever attempted something remotely similar to that, let alone as a major installment in the franchise?
I'm pretty sure the last time we heard someone attempt to (fully) voice Link, we got "Excuuuuuuuse me, Princess."

Maybe that should have been a sign.

I'm not sure marrying the usual Metroid style to a narrative was smart in the first place. I mean, I'm just not sure swimming in toxic waste deserves any credit because someone's at least doing something with it.

I'm not sure he's any better with movies or comics. His comic segments often need a fact checker, and he's in the middle of a TBP series on how Kevin Smith let down Gen X.

But again, I watch him mostly for entertainment purposes, so take that critique for what you wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell.

Yeah but, it is.
If people are going to start letting facts get in the way of their arguments, it won't be in the condemnation of "social justice warriors."

Although the minute we see a new law proposed to restrict video game sales, I'm sure most of the people complaining will become concerned with facts again.

It's not dismissive, it's an outright attack with halfassed logic to back it up. I'm not even sure why your stance on his other opinions would come into play here.

Some people need to get lives or hobbies, exibit A people. If you spend your day picking appart someody elses opinion and ideas POORLY, you need to have a good hard look at yourself and think; "how can I not be a tosser today".

I dont agree with him on a few points but he doesn't strike me as somebody that needs to be purged from the internet, the sweet and glorious trough of shit that it is and all.

I agree with that as well and I stopped watching TBP because of the Kevin Smith thing. Not sure how long it will last but I'm going to be ignoring it for a while.

eh.

There are probably people on the internet who have videos viciously eviscerating Mark Kermode, who is miles ahead of Bob as a critic. Hell everyone had a go at Roger Ebert that time when he talked about vidyagaems.

I'm not about to begrudge them for it, even if it's questionable in its methods and/or propositions. Don't have to listen to them.

I couldn't make it a minute in. Either this person has it out for bob for undeterminable reasons, or he's never actually listened carefully to anything Bob has actually said. Well, the latter, for sure, but possibly the former too. Basically, not much different from a lot of the hate directed towards She Whom Shalt Not Be Named.
This is the big thing I tend to take away from a lot of these 'takedown' and 'I hate' videos, and it reminded me of one #yesallwomen tweet that summed things up.

'if you think #yesallwomen is about hating men, you are not listening to women AND THAT IS PART OF THE PROBLEM'

Too much reacting and raging, not enough listening and thinking.
