So this is a bit of a rant on what I've noticed about some game reviewers and their fans.

One thing is that viewers of game reviews, and I don't notice this much in movie reviews, but the fans of the reviewers tend to believe the review or score is a judgement of it, if this is a 5 point system then a game getting a 3 or sometimes a 4 out of 5 means the game is god-awful and the reviewer is telling people to avoid it. Another thing is that game reviewers' fans seem to think that the reviewer saying "This is a good game" means the person who bought it gets a pat on the head for making a good purchase, I don't see it as that and I believe they don't want you to see it like that. Game reviews are for people who haven't picked up a game and are more on the fence about picking it up.

Another thing I've noticed is that fans will wildly and blindly follow a reviews views (ie. not the game or bad things inside the gaming world). As some people know I'm somewhat a fan of TB's videos and Jessy Cox at OMFG, but with more of TB he points out things that are wrong with PC games and with their console counterparts, and his fan are extremely hating of console players who watch his videos. I know some games were made with consoles in mind, but I simply hate it when PC players blame the console players for something the developers should have fixed. A example of this is Skyrim: with getting to Items, Magic, Map and Skills you have to deal with an interface that was more easy on consoles or gamepads in general. This tool was clearly meant for Xbox and PS3 but most PC players seem to want to burn them for something Bethesda should have fixed.

Well, I've rambled on long enough and seeing as how I'm donating this wall of text to the forums I'll take my leave now. Please leave a comment and your 2 cents.

Edit: thank you to the person who helped fix this i do appreciate help from time to time and all the people who really commented on the this

You already won the thread :D

OT: the general problem lies with the fans who have lost all sense in defending 'their' games and having too high expectations - they can't discuss constructive criticism without getting all worked up

Th at was the example of the fan reacting to a 3 or 4. when X-play gave uncharted 3 a 4I think it was in sessler soapbox he sed that a lot of people where leaving comments about they should have given it a 5 out of 5 or what have you I really didn't talk much about the reviewers in the first part but the 2nd.

I think you've entirely got a point with shoddy PC versions, there's no excuse for just expecting all PC owners to have a 360 controller to hand, if one's not plugged in, mouse and keyboard should be default, and you shouldn't ever see 'press RB for inventory'.

I don't think there's a fix for seeing 7/10 as average however, it's been that way since the days of the ZX spectrum and before :)

I hurt my brain trying to read this. I understood it (just about).
What you have to remember is that a game is a rather larger investment in money or time than a film so reviews become much more important as to whether someone should buy it or not. It also leaves it more open to fanboyism as one plays more of a game series convincing oneself that they made the right choice of game.

Side note, please use some form of spellcheck if you are going to post so much text.

That was a pretty entertaining Troll if we're all being honest though.
I wish i had managed to comment first to say this. Eh. Still This post, or similar ones keep popping up recently. Basically, people see no need to not buy the best, and I support this, why bother doing somthing if you're not trying to be the best at it?
But people need to stop following numbers. 9/10 means nothing. Its an opinion. Reviews should talk about what actually happens in the game, how the gameplay mechanics work, becasue thats what tells you about the game. Not numbers and opinons.

Oh, I see what you mean now... I was having trouble understanding your post.

OT: Those people/fans are just trolls, and I tend not to care about what they say. As for your second point about PC gamers complaining about a game made for the consoles.... it's what they do. Just ignore them too. They patch/mod everything anyways, so why bother catering to them? Bethesda says it's a headache making games for PC. The article was done the other week I believe.

So I guess my 2 cents would be: I don't really care about the complaints.
Its fine i know my dyslexia is hard to follow at time, I know i rambled in this and made some mistakes but I'm in a bit of a hurry, I'm the same i really don't care, but its just a bit of a bug on my back Pc games blame consoles games for having control's to them but we didn't make them it just annoys me. I like it when ALL games are on even level and we all get the same enjoyment out of Elders scrolls without mods to fix things.

OT: Those people/fans are just trolls, and I tend not to care about what they say. Anything rated 3 out of 5 and higher is good. Same for 7 out of 10.

It is actually pretty lazy of the developer to release a game with such an UI and fixed hotkeys and then let the gamers fix it for them.
Complaints about this are totally justified.

Enough

There were numerous other words that were spelt correctly but you used the wrong homophone.

Not trying to be mean or anything but you know how the internet is when it comes to these things and i would rather seem too critical than have loads of people berate (with nothing useful)you more times for the same mistakes.

Well, I just went through your whole post correcting and editing until it made sense to me.

(seriously, proof read.)

Anyway, I agree that the review scoring system is not working at all. But hey, I watched the new Jimquisition too. Reviewers feel pressed to give higher scores because people think 8 is bad, this leads to scores being higher, until 8.5 isn't good enough etc.

And those "PC Elitists"? less than you might think. Sure, some people blame those playing on consoles, or insult them, but it works both ways. How many console flame wars do you see on forums? Plenty.
Hell, some games are clearly designed for the PC, you don't often see console players complaining about that. odd.

But please, please, type things up in a spell checked system at least. Makes people more likely to comment and not just flame you (see first response).

...Really?

...Are you sure it was set to English?

OT: People are impressionable. If someone they like believes something, they'll believe it. Same thing happens with groups, i.e. CoD hate. Not saying all those people are wrong, but you'd be hard pressed to find many of them who hated it that much before the bandwagon started.
