I would appreciate you didn't use that word so lightly. It's like saying "awesome" to everything you see, even if it doesn't inspire "awe".

OT: Console gamers are at fault because they vote with their wallets, and I don't think they represent gaming as a whole.

But if people want to 'hate' consoles because a game works better on them, then I really just don't care what they have to say in general.
I don't hate consoles. I just dislike how those things are actually computers in a smaller scale but people like to be different and argue how simpler they are and how good for gaming those features are.

I don't hate games that work on consoles. I hate games for not working on PCs because the developers can get more profit from consoles. One thing is not having such a high regard towards computers, other is pretending you care and make a half-assed port.

Just out of curiosity, what do PC Gamers "vote" with? Unless I missed something, I wasn't aware the glorious PC Gamer Master Race had transcended the mortal contraints of a monetary system. We poor humans still have to use money, you know.

I came here to post, only to notice the thread has gone off the rails into the nearby ravine, but I will still make my intended point, I always just kind of used reviews as a guide to what games are good (7 and up, sometimes 6) and what games to avoid (5 and below) until I read the recent Game informer, in which they actually praised the campaign in BF3, giving it a 9.5, and then tore Sonic Generations apart because it re-imagined maps from Sonic Colors, giving it a 6.5, so now I realize that all reviews are worthless, and listen to my friends instead

I think you've entirely got a point with shoddy PC versions, there's no excuse for just expecting all PC owners to have a 360 controller to hand, if one's not plugged in, mouse and keyboard should be default, and you shouldn't ever see 'press RB for inventory'.

I don't think there's a fix for seeing 7/10 as average however, it's been that way since the days of the ZX spectrum and before :)
Maybe this makes me old, but I still haven't forgiven Bungie for Halo:CE's "Press Start Button" on the PC. There's just no excuse, especially with a high-profile dev who now only deals in AAA games.

I arrived to find you again... I don't mean to offend, but by god please proof read(I know I am not much better, but I do try to proof read at the least). Please edit your first post to make it a bit easier to read. I have already had this discussion with you and last time it ended with you getting suspended with a friend stepping in asking for pity.

OT: A 0-5 score tends to help avoid bad score people moaning, but personally Destructoid are one of the only 0-10 reviewers that can use the scale correctly.

I have read that you spell checked your work and you also have dyslexia (like me), however this is not an excuse, you need to carefully proof read your work. Even with dyslexia a mistake like seas and sees, and total lack of grammar don't correlate when you proof read your work.

Thanks for taking my point and totally corrupt it with your inane views on my opinions. I apologize for not spelling out for you what was not so obviously implied.

And I have owned and still own a lot of consoles. I know I am not responsible for the "sell same game every year" business tactic, and I did not accuse you of being at fault. I blame console gaming as a whole because it has been going downhill, no matter the shiny games people throw at each other in these forums.

This coming from a former Sony fanboy.

The way the English language has been violated in this thread is the most disturbing thing I have experienced in a long while.

Who even cares about reviews anyways? I can hardly come to call anyone a "review fan" or something along those lines. People who complain about them are just crybabies, they definitely don't derive enjoyment out of reading them.

Everyone that commented on his spelling should start apoligizing, he has dyslexia. and yes dyslexia can affect the ability to spell things correctly and use proper grammar. spelling nazis should get the same treatment from mods as people who call out trolls, its rude and is trolling.

OT

when it comes to review scores i ignore them unless i know the reviewers track record and usualy dont pay attention to them even then. I dont actualy care for score systems for reviewing and believe that what the reviewer pointed out for good and bad is more important.

I have pretty severe dyslexia. Don't use it as a crutch/excuse for poor spelling grammar. This is why people constantly make jokes that dyslexics can't read. We represent each other in fighting stereotypes. Thanks.

back OT:
I liked that for a long time the escapist didn't do 'stars' or '4 out of 5' because the actual written review said what needed to be said. I think the whole 'rating' system beyond 'recommendations' is pretty pointless. So I tend to just go by what's written in a review.

I have dyslexia, and fairly bad at that, but it's no excuse for not proof reading your work.

I can't tell if he used everysingle homophone the wrong way on purpose. Also, solid points, but weak grammar to the point that it was very distracting.

People are idiots and some just need guidance. Honestly I'm more angered when someone for some reason gets angry at a reviewer/person for saying a few negatives and giving it a lower score than the person thinks it deserves and they rage about it.

Seriously, try saying "I'm not a fan of Zelda" to anyone, you will get a lecture, or a rant about why it's good and why you're stupid for not liking it. I don't have anything personal against Zelda or Nintendo, I just think the game is boring and lacks character (Minus Twilight Princess that was pretty fun). I'm not saying go out of your way to say this but if it comes up, say it, you'll probably get a load of why your wrong for having your own opinion.

But whatever a lot of people take reviews the wrong way anyway, they're meant to be a guideline. Which is why they shouldn't have a score honestly, they should most have a summery of the good/bad, what they thought of it. I've played 5/10 games and had more fun than a 10/10, so what does that say? Well besides that I MIGHT have poor taste in games.

Riiight..

The main thing that attracted me to this thread was the spelling mistake in the title but I digress..

Avoid douchebags elitists? I dunno.

I was intrigued by the title and was willing to assume that you made a typo but I honestly don't know what the hell you were talking about. I'd be pleased to discuss this issue if you put a modicum of effort into sounding like someone who has passed third grade.

Totally off-topic here, like your own post, but Halo:CE was ported to the PC by Gearbox, so if any developer deserves your ire over that, it's Gearbox instead of Bungie.

OT: I took nothing from the OP's post that wasn't already said by the Jimquisition. But for what it's worth, I don't care about numbers, I care about what's said in the review. And I'll use multiple reviews to gauge whether I should buy something or not if I'm on the fence about it or haven't heard of it before.

No, I have to agree with him, your spelling is atrocious sir, so bad in fact I couldn't finish your post with a straight face. Issues with being able to spell are one thing, but when the spellcheck is literally one right click away [http://www.google.com/chrome/?installdataindex=nosearch&hl=en-GB&brand=CHMB&utm_campaign=en-GB&utm_source=en-GB-ha-emea-ie-sk&utm_medium=ha] you don't really get an excuse, and you couldn't of been bothered to even fix the title of the thread... there's a limit.

...ok, that's MY rant over, now onto the topic. Where there is popular release there will always be controversy over the perception of said popular release. For instance, people can complain about the pc UI in Skyrim all they want, but they don't know what they're talking about, any veteran Elder scrolls player knows that irritating things like the UI eventually get modded and fixed by the fanbase, It's why I always pick up the PC version. The exact same thing happened with Oblivion, google immersiveHUD for Oblivion to see what I mean.

And seriously, I'm not having a go at you man, but you need some lessons in the English language.

I have dyslexia as well, you wouldn't want to glance at my handwriting, it would eternally scar you. It does not however prevent me from using a spellcheck to fix my errors and present my posts in a legible fashion. Dyslexia is not an excuse for laziness. (btw, English isn't even my native language)

Yup, like this person right here, he seems pretty coherent and legible as well, more proof laziness is not something we should coddle.

In fact, I think you should apologize for patronizing us dyslexic folk with your inequitably applied niceness! :D
