People here hate it or dislike it because it is generally viewed as an overrated series, not because it is bad.

It has a terrible plot, unlikable characters, nothing that provokes thoughts other than those involving suicide/wanton destruction of console, and when it all boils down to it, the gameplay itself is pretty horrendous.

LEG FUCKING WARMERS. why do girls where these?, they look retarded. a super cute girl will be wearing a very flattering outfit and will put Neon green Leg warmers at the bottom and ruin there whole look.

(this is just my opinion obviously)

Halo's single player campaign is good. Decent story. Good pacing.

The multiplayer is garbage:
Halo has no team-play dynamics. Halo is not tactical. Weapons spawn on certain areas of the map: Get the good guns and spawn kill before anyone gets a chance to get better guns. This formula was fine 15 years ago for Doom's multiplayer. In 2009, it's shameful.

I didn't think the Halo series were bad games at all. I definitely enjoyed the first one, though the same can't be said about the other two. I just don't think most of them deserved the critical praise that they got. I think Halo 3 has something like a 94 on metacritic. And the user score is closer to 7 out of 10. That just doesn't seem right.

Bungie have gotten something right, since it's the most fun multiplayer game I've played so far [I have not played many >,>], and it's stil ranks among the most-played on XBL.
I guess it's like..soccer or something. It's not great, but it's good enough for most people to keep playing because it's easy to pick up and visually appealing.

It all started maybe a week after Halo 3's release when people started realizing that the game (multiplayer mode at least) was both annoying and monotonous because of the growing range of people playing the game. This "hate" became a massive stereotype that was applied to all people that played it. This generalization eventually stemmed into the whole Halo series. What can I say, anything that is popular will have a tendency to develop critics equal to its fans, like a bunch of wandering sheep and disoriented wolves without a cause.

So is hating Halo 3 a fad you ask. Well, since the game has been out for a little over a year, most of the popularity has been sucked out of it and any fads that have or did exist about the game have faded into the abyss.

Since when the hell did people consider Halo as a realistic FPS? If we were going for a Tom Clancy FPS then I would agree with this 100%. One problem though..it's Halo, a Sci-fi FPS with a linear path equal to the side scroller beat em up where you play the masculine and face covered robot/human(spartan) Master Chief who uses laser guns and knows how to work a plasma grenade. I'll ask again since when the hell was Halo considered realistic?
It's an immersion thing; you can still have realistic elements in a work of fantasy. Whether or not the level of detail put into said work is enough to make you believe that you are really within that realm is what is meant by "realistic" in this sense.

This is what I have always been saying and have wanted to make a thread about but was never brave enough. People have been hating Halo for a long time now recently and I gotta say I'm tired of it. I'm tired of people saying Halo has a bad story then say that it's just 'space marines going to far off planets to fight aliens' something that I hate because they are demonstrating a complete lack of understanding of the Halo story yet choosing to bash it anyway... that being evidence of mere biasedness brought on by a fad.
I'm sick of people quoting Yahtzee and telling me Halo is mediocre so I should trade it for Call of Duty 4 Brown-grey modern warfare game number 5000,000 as that is much more original. That somehow action paced fight scenes and epic music fall under the category of 'mediocre'.
I'm sick of people condemning me for being an ignorant 'fanboy' for liking a game I like then being twice the fanboy by over praising Half Life 2. I do love however that they say Halo fanboys are the annoying trolls when nearly every single day they make another 'why Halo sucks' thread yet you never see it in reverse. I also hate it when their only elequent response is:
"Halo sukcs, go pla HL2 insted it iz soo much betta."
I hate it when people quote yahtzee who is biased against Halo and use his remarks as proof thinking he has some kind of 'authority' over the rest of us.

(please note as always I feel that if you just don't like Halo because it's not your thing or like other shooters better but still respect those who play Halo... I respect you.)

Thank you OP, what you say is true... this Halo Hate thing is a tiresome fad and I wish it would hurry up and end. Your thread I respect:

If something is good, I like it. The only problem is that most things that are popular are terrible.

I think made such improvements on the controls for for first person shooters. The grenades and melee are practical and switching weapons is easy. The vehicles are very easy to steer by 1st person shooter standards. The regenerating health meant I didn't Spend half the level back tracking to find health only to die from a hundred paper cuts.

Fortunately all these improvements became more common in genre, which is why I think there was a lot of fans who felt let down by the third game.

I said a couple of days ago, that I preferred COD:WAW to COD4. In return for this statement I received a volley of fanboy abuse to rival the Fight In The Shade" scene from 300.

I like halo. It may not be as deep as half-life, but it's fun. Don't hate me for enjoying something I like.

I agree.

Theese days, if you say that you hate halo, gears of war, or any other game that most people like, you are sometimes considered cool, or mature, or whatever.

Altho, i think there might be a different reason.

Fanboys. We all see how dumb they look, and we try our best not to become one of them.

Same goes for MMORPGS. Because some players are complete nolifers and geeks, most people try to avoid playing them, just because they think that those games are for geeks, nolifers and fanboys only.
