Im so confused by this. If Pence had the right to change the outcome of the election and Trump expected him to do so...that's an admission that Trump lost the election.
Also pardoning the Jan 6th rioters. Okay. I thought the Jan 6th people were Antifa and FBI agents staging a false flag operation. Is Trump going to pardon Antifa? Or is he also admitting his supporters were the ones there on the 6th?

Eh, it's all fun and games to blame Antifa, but that's like how Obama is the literal anti-christ and going to destroy the world but you should still go to work on Monday because he won't really.

Who cares? It's contempt for the law and says to me that he absolutely should not be permitted to stand for president again. That shit is straight out of the territory of tinpot dictators.

Here's a modest proposal. We bring back Ostracism like how the ancient Greeks practiced it. Once a year we have a vote, and whoever gets the most votes has to leave the country for a decade and cannot run for office during that time.

cathartic but ultimately inconsequential

I mean it kinda matters. Baring something extreme like him passing away, Trump is going to be the next GOP nominee. He might even win the general election, but even if he doesn't he's going to attempt another coup and this time it'll work.

Shouldn't you know better by now than to expect anything even remotely resembling sense or sanity from Trump? (Position on the vaccine excepted; nut, blind squirrel, latter sometimes finds former, etc.)

I guess Im confused because by saying the quiet part out loud like that he's basically confessing to an attempted self-coup. Say what you like about Trump, he's usually good at limiting criminal liability. This confession feels like a throwing in the legal towel.

I think he understands, on some level, that he is proper fucked, and his best chance is inciting his followers to rise up in his name.

Look, I don't want to be involved in people having no citizenship, even temporary

How about they aren't allowed on any media or be running an corporations?

What has been funny is Trump doing a little press release that someone tweets on Twitter.... but somehow Trump has been cancelled on platforms like Twitter. Getting rid of Trump's account has done little to stop him

If one there could be a system, some sort of collected entity with professionals, trained for years to understand both the rules of that system, and the collective rules of society, whose job it is to implement and enforce said rules. Some would take the part of society's avatar, acting on behalf of society to enforce those laws, and others would be like solely dedicated to the defense of individual members of society. And they would debate in open forums, in a setting overseen by a real arbiter, a scholar in rules, and there could be a group of lay people, just everyday citizens, gathered together to serve as sorta like a jury. And the professionals would debate the merits of individual cases of society rule breaking, and this jury would have to come to a conclusion as to the likelihood of a rule break, and the severity in which someone should be punished.

But to my knowledge, no such thing exists.

How is the FBI not all over Trump and everyone of his enablers as a threat to the country?

Because Trump and his enablers are threats to the country, and the FBI is part of the country.

And/or the FBI is a threat to the country itself.

Hah! The sitting president will be ostracised almost every year.

I suspect most high ranking Republicans are quietly hoping that the fraud cases currently in process against Trump stick, and effectively remove him from contention.

However, whilst not quite insane, Trump has an extreme personality disorder. His behaviour was always odd and erratic in ways, but I cannot help but feel that making it to president unhinged him somewhat, probably because it gratified some of his worst tendencies and removed some of his inhibitions. That and probably just age taking its toll.

Maybe it hasn't stopped him. But dear god it's given the rest of us a lot of peace from his incessant rage and abuse.

Ive said it before, I'll say it again, the nation would be shocked to its core if it knew how many people in office were involved in the Jan 6th operation.
A couple of state senators, a few hack lawyers, and a few hundred mooks in bad cosplay aren't enough to effectively overturn the election of a 300+ million population nation with the largest army in history. There has to be a lot of people signed on. Not just politicians, and lawyers, but judges, police officers and commanders, intelligence agents, Governors, Generals, pentagon officials, Cabinet members, in-the-field military commanders, probably a few international leaders, especially Canada and Mexico so they don't think they need to intervene on behalf of the legitimate US government. And personally I think some capital police were involved, either opening doors, or attempting to shuffle politicians into pre-arranged corridors for the mooks to get.

Point being a coup, even a self-coup, is not something a dozen people can pull off with a heist movie style misdirect of the official envelops of electors. And the FBI, like all Government institutes, is afraid to clean house because of what they'll find. Its like that scene in Captain America Winter Soldier where Cap tells Shield its been infiltrated by Hydra, and enemy agents could be standing right next to you. The next step to find out who is who is drawing guns. And that's not something the FBI would recover from, and that's assuming the pro-Democracy/America side wins.

There is no "the Jan 6th operation". There were many people doing many different things that day, it's silly to treat all of those as some unified conspiracy.

Honestly the more evidence comes out, the less true that is.
Trump talks to Giuliani, Giuliani talks to Steve Bannon, Bannon talks to organizers for the Jan 6th riot. That's a direct link. Some may even call it a chain. And someone at the top is in command. A command chain if you will.
