What if when you beat a game and you do your second play through it says

Fun Mode

'In this mode Cut scenes will be skipped automatically, Skips the Tutorial or prologue level and provides Free Gold/Gil/Coins.

Note: you cant get Trophies and achievements in this mode.

Would you Activate this?

I would on a 2nd play through i just wanna have some fun with it and i usually skip the cutscences anyway on my 2nd play through.

And do you think this would be a good idea to have in games?

Don't cheat codes in most games do just this?

Except for the skipping of cutscenes where you might have to push a button yourself..

Why not just have a massive arena where you fight shit or something then? It's basically the same thing.

And getting trophies and achievement in that mode sort of defeats the purpose with trophies and achievements, as they are not meant to be gained by cheating the rules.

I guess it could be fun for certain games, if slightly pointless. Don't think it's a thing we should demand developers to implement though

I know in some games you can skip the tutorial. During your second playthroughs in Mass Effects 1 and 2, you have the best armor and are richer than the entire planet. That does sound like it would be pretty fun, though. It reminds me of typing in the "win" code in the original Monkey Islands.

I think a New Game+ mode with skippable cutscenes solves this problem.
For games like Halo, I agree there ought to be a 'fun mode' - the ability to mess with the game a little.
Also, not all games - in fact very few these days - have cheat codes.

Skulls.

I probably wouldn't play this 'fun mode'. It sounds too easy, and sometimes I like cutscenes; because the majority of games that I've played which have cutscenes are used to flesh out the characters and give reasons for my actions.

Honestly, I just think more games should bring back actual cheat codes. Unlock the main ones from beating the game on normal and then maybe tie others to specific achievements/trophies.

There are some games this wouldn't really work with though, like Mass Effect, where half the game is cutscene conversation things.

It would be a neat extra option.
Something like CoD could use this very well, because the stories are meaningless and spoon deep you really only want to see them once, so on the next run through you just have a blast beating the level without all the extras.

Exactly. I remember the good ol' days, when Goldeneye had such gems as invincibility, unlimited ammo, DK Mode, Paintball Mode, slo-mo, Tiny Bond, etc. (most of these worked in multiplayer, too!) Let's not forget Star Wars: Rogue Squadron as well, which had a code that allowed you to FLY A FRIGGIN' BUICK THAT SHOT LASERS AND CLUSTER MISSILES.

Awwwww, yeah.
Name me one title in the last five years that had such ridiculously awesome unlocks without hacking or modding the game. Cheat codes are badly overdue for a resurgence.

Shouldn't the ability to skip tutorials or cutscenes be a given regardless if it's the first playthrough or not?

Also, achievements/trophies are worthless to me anyway, so it would be no big loss if they were disabled for this.

I know a few indie games and a couple of big titles that allow a different mode of play when you clear them. Like Condemned 2 unlocks a FPS mode when you clear it the first time. But A fun mode eh? Hmm... Maybe. I guess the point of gaming is to play for fun and not to read 40 pages of text. But i'm not sure I can trust big game developers to create what they think is a -fun mode-
Great Idea but I dont see big titles wanting to include a fun mode. Because whats the point of making games fun these days? ...
