A Game for Friends

I personally really like Burnout Paradise, but the lack of split screen multiplayer is very irritating. It's as though games companies are starting to believe that all we want to do is sit in a dark room and talk to people we don't know from who knows where...

Multiplayer takes a long time to implement properly into a game and changes many aspects of what is and isn't possible with it. You would be waiting longer for these games, they wouldn't have some of the content they do as single player, and whats wrong with singleplayer!?

For a TES MMO go look at Darkfall, I've been told its very similar.

If anyone has played the new Red Faction: Guerrilla Demo, I'd like that to have an online co-operative campaign function...
I know it has multiplayer 'kill everyone' function, but co-op sounds too good to pass up...

I think Dead Space would be good with co-op. Doom 3 made it work. I would have liked Viking: Battle for Asgard to be multi-player.

Fallout 3 co-op would be pretty cool. I can't think of many games that have lacked multiplayer and felt like they needed it.

Apologies, I'm currently doing a degree in games development and the latest project involved implementing multiplayer and AI in a 3d environment.

The headaches and rage inducing frustration overcame me when I looked at this thread...as I was taking a break from screaming at my compiler that I do not have linker errors.

Agreed. I'm not a HUGE fan of the series but it has it's uses. But i'd settle for EA getting a single player game to function at 100%. Apparently they're having major bug issues with sims 3.

They already did it, with the Sims Online, turns out it sucked.

Well if the PS3 can actually get that M.A.G. game to work, the multiplayer game that can supposedly support 256 players at once

Planetside's been there, I'm told it's alright. Fingers crossed for MAG.

Anywho, I think that the *best* MP games wouldn't make good singleplayer ones and vica versa. Take Half Life. Rubbish multiplayer. Counter Strike. Would be rubbish in singleplayer. Games like Halo which do both just don't rate, imo.

That said, I see no reason why Serious Sam 2 couldn't have had competitive multiplayer.

I thought there were also some 'internet pimping issues'. Probably the same people that mod the Sims 2 to show the full human anatomy.
